3 System Operation
3.1 Glossary of Terms
The following terms, as used in this section, have the meanings listed
alongside each term:
Alarm There are two types of Alarm:
Siren Alarm
: internal and external sirens sound, strobes
flash, and the Control Panel reports the event by
telephone to preprogrammed destinations.
Silent Alarm
: the Control Panel reports the event by
telephone to preprogrammed destinations without sirens
or strobes.
Arming Preparing the alarm system to issue an Alarm if motion is
detected or if a door/window is opened within the
premises. Arming modes include Away, Home, Instant
Away, Instant Home and Latchkey.
Away An Arming type used when the building is entirely
vacated. All areas of the premises are protected.
Chime A function which issues an audio signal when the alarm
system is disarmed and a defined door is opened. The
Chime function can be enabled and disabled.
Control
Panel
An electronic unit which houses the microprocessor and
circuitry used to control the alarm system, as well as the
user interface (keys, display, buzzer, speaker and built-in
microphone).
Disarming Restoring the system to the normal standby state.
Entry
Delay
The amount of time between entry into the building and
issue of an Alarm. (Note
: An alarm will not be issued if
the User ID is entered within the Entry Delay period.)
