ACPowerConsiderations
Themajorityofhouseholdelectricalsockets(inplacesotherthanthekitchenandgarage)are15amperesmaximum,whichis
sufficienttopoweryourXseriesamplifier.However,remembertoaccountfortheelectricalpowerthatothercomponents
willrequireiftheyshareacommonwallsocketorelectricalcircuit.MostDVDplayers,preamplifiersandA/Vsourceunitsare
fairlylowcurrentitems,andcansuccessfullyshareawallsocketwithyourpoweramplifier,butbigscreenTVsandvideo
projectorsusuallyhaveminimumcurrentrequirementsthatcanconsumenearlyanentirecircuit.Refertotheowner’s
manualsofyouraudio/videodevicestoassessyourelectricalpowerrequirementsforyourhomeentertainmentsystem.If

spikeprotection.
UponpoweringupyourXamplifierwiththefrontpanelswitchorvia3.5mmtriggerinput(switchontherearpanelmustbe
setto“ON”),youwillnoticethefrontpanelLEDlightingstartsoffredfor5secondsandthenturnstoblue.Thisindicatesthe
amplifieris“on,”functioningnormallyandreadyforoperation.IfyoudonotseeanLEDlightorablinkingredLEDlightwhile
theamplifierisonduring(otherwise)normaloperation,pleaserefertothetroubleshootingsectionofthismanual.
PhysicalPlacement/HeatConsiderations
Xseriesamplifiersemployconvectioncooling,whichisveryeffectiveandcompletelynoiseless.Undernormaloperating
conditions,yourXamplifierwillremaincooltomildlywarm,butconsiderationsforheatshouldbetakenintoaccountduring
placement.
PlaceyourXamplifieronaflat,levelsurface,withtheweightdistributedequallyonallfourfeet.Ifusingacabinetorshelf,
pleasemakesurethatthereissufficientventilationandthereisatleast6inchesoffreeairspaceabovetheamplifierand3
inchesoneachside.Ifadequateventilationisnotavailable,yourmayconsiderinstallingtwosmallbrushlessDCfans(suchas
thoseusedincomputercases)toprovidecontinuousairflowaroundtheunit.Iftheamplifierislocatedonacarpeted
surface,placeaboardundertheamplifier’sfeet.
NOTE:Expansionandcontractionoftheamplifier’sheatsinksmaycauseafaint‘clicking’soundattimes.Thisisrelativeto
howwarmtheheatsinksbecomeandhowquicklytheycool.Thisiscompletelynormal,andnocauseforconcern.
DoNOTblocktheventilationholesontheamplifier.
YourXamplifierisequippedwithamassivetoroidalpowertransformer.Thistransformergeneratesamagneticfieldthat
couldinduceahuminaturntable(particularlyaturntableequippedwithamovingcoilcartridge).DoNOTplaceaturntable
directlyaboveordirectlyadjacenttotheamplifier.
Beforeplacingtheamplifieronashelf,verifythattheweightbearingcapacityoftheshelfis80lbsorgreater.Theamplifieris
heavyandshouldbeplacedtowardthebottomofanaudioracktominimizetherackbeingunnecessarilytopheavy.
