DIAGNOSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING
10.1 OvERvIEw
The Model 5081-C transmitters automatically monitor for fault
conditions. The d iagnose Menu allows the current variable set-
tings to be reviewed and shows fault messages indicating prob-
lems detected. Figure 10-1 illustrates the relationship between
the d iagnose Menu and its sub-menus. The mnemonics are
defined in Table 10-1.
10.1.1 TROUBLESHOOTING
Step 1 Look for a diagnostic fault message on the display to
help pinpoint the problem. Refer to Table 10-2 for an
explanation of the message and a list of the possible
problems that triggered it.
Step 2 Refer to the Quick Troubleshooting Guide, Table 10-3,
for common loop problems and the recommended
actions to resolve them.
Step 3 Follow the step-by-step troubleshooting flow chart,
offered in Figure 10-5, to diagnose less common or
more complex problems.
10.1.2 DISPLAy ING DIAGNOSTIC vALUES
The d iAG key on the iRC is used to access the d iagnosis Menu.
The menu flow is shown in Figure 10-2 and the mnemonics are
defined in Table 10-1.
The FAuLtS sub-menu can be entered to show the last three
faults/warnings. The most recent is displayed first; NEXT scrolls
through the remaining faults. Pressing EXiT clears all fault/warn-
ings and returns the FAuLtS segment. d isconnecting the trans-
mitter removes all fault messages from memory. The nonE mes-
sage is displayed when no faults/warnings have occurred.
