Power Bay DC Output Cable Sizes and Lugs Selection
Features
3/8” clearance holes on 1" centers are provided for installation of customer provided DC output cables
terminated in two-hole lugs. These are accessed from the rear of each Power Bay.
For lug mounting hole size and spacing dimensions, refer to the illustration provided in this section.
Restrictions
All lugs for customer connections must be ordered separately.
Customer needs to supply lug mounting hardware.
Maximum size of wire to be connected to a single lug position is 750 kcmil (2 per lug position).
Maximum lug width, 1.937 inches.
Ordering Notes
1) DC output cable size varies depending on power requirements, therefore no specific information is
provided for cable size. Refer to Table 11 for recommended cable sizes and lugs at rated maximum bay
output (2400 amperes). When making connections, observe correct polarity.
2) For other available lugs and hardware, refer to drawings 031110100 through 031110300.

Cable sizes are based on recommendations of the American National Standards Institute
(ANSI) approved National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) National Electrical Code
(NEC). Table 310-16 for copper wire rated at 90
°C conductor temperature operating in
ambients of 30
°C and 40°C was used. For other operating ambient temperatures, refer to the
NEC. For operation in countries where the NEC is not recognized, follow applicable codes.
2
Recommended cable sizes are sufficient to restrict voltage drop to 1.0 volt or less at rated full
output current of the bay for the loop lengths shown. Loop length is the sum of the lengths of
the positive and negative leads.
3
Two-hole lug, 3/8" bolt clearance hole, 1" centers. Refer to drawing 031110100 for lug
crimping information.
