This compact unit has been designed to take up a minimum of space, while still providing an AM/FM stereo radio, a compact disc player and a cassette player/recorder. The CD player has a 19-track programmable memory and high-speed music search. The cassette player/recorder will record directly from the radio, or from the CD player.
IMPORTANT NOTES • Avoid installing this unit in places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliances such as electric heaters, on top of other stereo equipment that radiates heat, places lacking ventilation or dusty areas, places subject to constant vibration and/or humid or moist areas. • Do not attempt to clean this unit with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. Use a clean dry cloth. • Operate controls and switches as described in the manual.
PREPARATION FOR USE UNPACKING AND SET-UP • Remove the main unit and speakers from the carton and remove all packing materials from the components. Please save the carton and packing materials, if possible, in case the unit ever needs to be returned for service. The original carton and packing materials are the only way to protect the unit from damage in transit. • Remove any descriptive labels or stickers from the front or top of the units. Do not remove any labels from the back or bottom of the units.
• You may wrap any excess speaker wire around the wire holders on the back of each speaker cabinet. POWER SUPPLY • After connecting the speakers and extending the FM lead wire antenna as described above, you are ready to connect the AC plug to a 110 -120V 60Hz AC outlet. • This unit has a polarized AC plug with one wide blade and one narrow blade. This plug will only fit into a matching polarized AC outlet. This is a safety feature to reduce the possibility of electric shock.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS LISTENING TO THE RADIO Notes: • Make sure that the FM antenna is extended to its full length. • Make sure that the FM MODE switch (on the back cabinet) is set to the STEREO position. 1. Set the Function selector to ‘RADIO’. 2. Set the Band selector to the desired band, ‘AM’ or ‘FM’. 3. Press the POWER button to turn the unit ‘On’. 4. Tune to the desired station with the TUNING knob.
PLAYING COMPACT DISCS NORMAL PLAYBACK 1. Press the POWER button to turn the unit ‘On’. The POWER LED indicator comes on. 2. Set the Function selector to CD. Two dashes “– –” appear in the CD display. This indicates that there is no disc in the player, or that the player cannot read the disc. 3. Press the CD door OPEN button. 4. Place a CD on the center spindle with the printed label side facing up and close the CD door. 5.
TO BEGIN PLAYBACK FROM A SPECIFIC TRACK 1. Insert your disc and wait until the display shows the total number of tracks. or Reverse button until the desired track 2. Press either the Skip Forward button to start number flashes in the display. Then press the PLAY/PAUSE playback on that track. Note: You must press the PLAY/PAUSE button within 4 seconds after selecting the track number or the display will return to the total track number display.
PROGRAMMED PLAYBACK This feature allows you to program up to 19 tracks on a CD to play in any order you desire. You can program the player to skip the tracks you do not like and to repeat the tracks you do like. Note: The CD player must be in the Stop mode in order to enter a program in the Memory. 1. 7. If you make a mistake while programming tracks, or to cancel the program completely, press the PROGRAM button so that the PROGRAM LED Indicator is flashing, and then press STOP button. The program may also be canceled by opening the CD door, selecting another function, or switching the power’Off’. REPEAT PLAYBACK This feature allows you to repeat a single track, or the entire disc automatically. • To repeat a single track: Press the REPEAT button once.
PLAYING A CASSETTE TAPE 1. Set the Function selector to the ‘TAPE’ position. 2. Push the POWER button to turn the unit ‘On’. The POWER LED ‘On’ Indicator comes on. 3. Open the cassette control key cover. The finger notch is on the right side of the cabinet. 4. Press the STOP/EJECT key to open the cassette door.. 5. Insert a prerecorded cassette into the slots on the cassette door, with the exposed tape facing down and the full reel on the left. Close the cassette door. 6. Press the PLAY desired.
MAKING A TAPE RECORDING You can record directly from the Radio or CD player to the cassette recorder. 1. Press the POWER button to switch the system ‘On’. The Power ‘On’ Indicator comes on. 2. Select the source you wish to record, Radio or CD, and follow the instructions for that function. 3. Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette door. Insert a good quality blank cassette into the slots on the door with the exposed tape facing down and the full reel on the left side. Close the cassette door. 4.
STEREO HEADPHONE JACK The stereo headphone jack is located on the back panel. Connect a set of stereo headphones (not included) with a 3.5 mm mini plug to this jack for private listening. The speakers shut off automatically when headphones are connected to the headphone jack. When using headphones, reduce the volume to a low level before you connect the headphones. Then connect the headphones, put them on, and gradually increase the volume to a comfortable level. 13 MS7625_ib.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE ABOUT CASSETTE TAPES Whenever you record on a cassette any previously recorded material is erased as the new material is accorded. To prevent you from accidentally erasing material which you wish to save, blank cassettes are equipped with erase prevention tabs for each side of the tape. If the erase prevention tab for side A is removed, you cannot accidentally record on side A. The record key cannot be depressed if the erase prevention tab on the cassette has been removed.
• Use only well-known brands of tape. Avoid use of C-120 cassettes. Furthermore, do not expose cassettes to direct sunlight, dust or oil, and do not touch the tape surfaces. HEAD CLEANING The tape heads, pinch roller and capstan require periodic cleaning. This removes particles of the metal oxide coating that wear off the tape and accumulate on these parts and impair performance. Switch off the power, press the STOP/EJECT key to open the cassette door, and press the PLAY key.
• Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaners to clean the disc. If necessary, use a CD cleaning kit. • Never write on or affix labels to the surface of compact discs. CARE OF THE CABINETS • If the cabinets become dusty wipe them with a soft dry dust cloth. Do not use any wax or polish sprays on the cabinets.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service.
