Configuring the Users
Note:
This information can also be programmed through the
command SET USERS which is described later in this section.
Note:
The Operation section in the User Instructions (Section 5847)
lists the MCA Interface channels. Section 5847 can be
accessed via the CD (Electronic Documentation Package)
furnished with your system. Add these channels to the User
Group as necessary.

Note:
This prompt is not displayed if the logged on user is
modifying his own user configuration. A user cannot
de-activate his own configuration.
3. If "N" was entered, the system displays another user
configuration. If "Y" was entered, the system allows the
default configuration information of the current user to
be changed as shown below.

5. Type the desired name for this user (30 characters
maximum unless used with TL1, then 10 characters
maximum), then press

to identify various activities of the user such as when he
accesses the system or changes a configuration of the
system.

7. Type the desired password for the user (8 characters
maximum), then press
ENTER
. Each user is programmed
with a unique password that grants him access to a
specific command level. Passwords are case sensitive,
which means the system recognizes upper and lower
case characters differently. Type the password exactly as
it is to be used. There is no provision for changing access
levels once a person is logged on to the system.
Additionally, a user cannot change his own password
unless he is programmed for access level 6.
Note:
If the user is to access the system through the TL1
port, the user’s password must contain two non-
alpha characters. One of these must be a symbol.
([%], [#], and [+] are the only valid symbols).

9. Type the desired access level (1-6) of the user, then press
ENTER
. The access level determines which commands are
available to a particular user. Level 6 allows the user to
have access to all the commands.
Note:
This prompt is not displayed if the logged on user is
modifying his own user configuration. A user cannot
change his own access level.

. The callback feature allows
additional system security when accessing the system via
its modem. After a user calls the system and enters his
password, the system will hang-up and call the user back

system will use for callbacks, System Alarm Reports, and
User Reports (20 characters maximum), then press

Note:
If the alarm report is to be initiated through a pager,
set the user phone number to that of the paging
system. If the remote paging system requires a
Personal Identification Number (PIN) to gain access,
then the PIN must be entered as part of the user
phone number. This is done by entering the pager
system phone number followed by the character ‘B’
followed by the PIN and any terminating character
required (for example, ‘#’).
