Mouse and Pointer Settings
1
When accessing a target device in the Video Viewer, you may experience mouse pointer lag or
see two mouse pointers that are not aligned. You can synchronize the remote and local mouse by
using single cursor mode, using Avocent Mouse Sync or adjusting operating system settings on
both the local and remote servers.
Synchronization Options
To synchronize the local and remote mouse:
Select Tools - Single Cursor Mode in the Video Viewer window. This displays only the remote
target device pointer and hides the local client server pointer. You can turn Single Cursor Mode
off at any time.
NOTE: If you still experience mouse synchronization problems, adjust the operating system settings on the target
device (see Adjusting Operating System Mouse Settings on page 2).
-or-
Enable Avocent Mouse Sync in the KVM session profile to improve mouse tracking on the target
device. If Avocent Mouse Sync is enabled, it is not necessary to disable mouse acceleration on
the target device. For more information, see the DSView
®
3 management software help
(keywords:Avocent Mouse Sync)or the DSR
®
Switch Installer/User Guide.
NOTE: Avocent Mouse Sync is only supported on target devices that are connected to a DSRswitch with a USB2 IQ
module. These target devices must also be running on the Windows
®
family of operating systems or the Apple
operating system for Macintosh
®
computers. The AutoView
®
switch does not support Avocent Mouse Sync.
-or-
Turn off mouse acceleration on the target device. Follow the instructions for the appropriate
operating system(s) in Adjusting Operating System Mouse Settings on page 2.
