6.2.2.11 Entity Database Editor Dialog Box
The Configuration Editor’s Entity Database dialog box, shown selected in the following figure, provides edit
functionality for the console’s locally-stored entity database. The database is stored on the PC’s hard disk drive under the file
name ENTITY.DAT in the C:\MAESTRO directory. Unit/Console, group and conventional channel entities’ settings can be
changed by editing entity records stored in the database file. In most cases, usage of this dialog box is only required and
should only be utilized if the console’s CEC/IMC network system is not equipped with a System Manager. Changes made
via this editor will be overwritten if/when the console receives entity data from the CEC/IMC.

NOTE
The ENTITY.DAT entity database file is a binary file. Therefore, it should never be edited with a text editor.
6.2.2.11.1 Changing Existing Entity Records
To change existing entity records using the Entity Database dialog box follow this procedure:
1. If desired, exit the Configuration Editor and back-up the existing ENTITY.DAT file by copying it to a different
directory and/or disk, or by copying it to the same disk and directory with a different file name (for example:
ENTITY.BAK). Next, re-start the Configuration Editor and select the Entity Database dialog box.
2. Via one of the Show option buttons in the dialog box, select the desired entity type—units/consoles, groups or
conventional channels. The entity record listing will update appropriately. For example, as shown in Figure 6-18,
select Units/Consoles to display only unit and console entity records.
