significant change occurs in either the monitor’s level/position or the dispatcher’s eye level/position. For example, re-
calibration may be required if the dispatcher’s seating is raised significantly. Refer to the touch-screen manufacturer’s
documentation and/or on-line help for configuration processes.

6.1.9 Printers
During normal dispatch operations, the C3 Maestro console for Windows NT does not require any printer access.
However, printer access may be beneficial during console set-up and/or troubleshooting periods to, for example, print-out a
message log file generated by the Communications Interface’s monitor. Also, if another application is utilized on the
console’s PC, printer access may be required. This access could include a local printer connected to the PC’s parallel printer
port (for example: LPT1) and/or a remote network printer if the computer is networked.
If printer access is required, refer to the Microsoft’s Windows NT Workstation Installation Guide and/or System Guide
for configuration details. Within Windows NT, printer configurations are accomplished via Print Manager. Normally, no
printers are set-up at the factory — the default printer is “NONE”.

6.2.1 Initialization Files
The C3 Maestro console application’s initialization files are text-based configuration files which are read by an
executable program at start-up. All carry an “INI” file extension and all are located in the same directory on the hard disk
drive as other console files— C:\MAESTRO. To the console application’s three (3) on-line executable programs
(CONSOLE.EXE, GUI.EXE and MCOMM.EXE) all initializations files are read-only files.
Two (2) off-line console configuration programs—the Configuration Editor and the UDS Configurator—each have a user
interface which provides user-friendly INI file edits. For details on using the Configuration Editor (MCONFIG.EXE) see
section 6.2.2 in this manual (page 28). For details on editing screen INI files with UDS Configurator, see manual
AE/LZB 119 1896. . Thoroughly test any changes made before releasing a new INI file for dispatch operations.
6.2.1.1 MAESTRO.INI
MAESTRO.INI is the console’s primary initialization file. It stores global console settings such as hardware
configurations, “setup” (console user profile & module programming) aliases/names and GUI-related screen configurations
such as full screen operation enabled (not resizable or movable) or disabled (resizable/movable). All three (3) on-line console
executable programs—CONSOLE.EXE, GUI.EXE and MCOMM.EXE read this file at start-up to determine primary
operational settings. Most settings in MAESTRO.INI are editable using either the Configuration Editor or the UDS
Configurator off-line programs.
