Step 1. Install the Elk panel at least 1 Elk keypad and an Elk M1XEP

(Ethernet Interface)

The Keypad and M1XEP will connect to the 4/wire serial bus on the

ELK panel. There is also a voice siren that will be in you ELK kit that

you will want to install. The connection is only two wires, a white and a

black that land on output #2 on the M1Gold. This will allow you to

hear the response back from the Panel (M1Gold)

Step 2. The next step is to enroll the M1XEP into the ELK system. To

do this we will need to use the Keypad.

Press the Menu (ELK) button on the Keypad (figure 7), then push the

up arrow a few times. The screen will ask for an installer ID. Input the

numbers 1 7 2 8 3 9 then keep pushing the up arrow until you see it say

buss module enrolment, then push the arrow to the right the module is

now enrolling. This process is necessary to be able to talk to the ELK

system with out connecting to it with a cable directly. Your connection

is now through the internet.

Step 3 Start the RP access software. You will be asked to create a

profile. In the profile you will need to know the serial number on the

M1Gold you are trying to link to. Figure 1 will show the screen where

the information will be entered.

(Figure 1) After you have done that you will need to click on the M1XEP button. This button is on the bottom right of the screen. After you have pushed the button another screen will pop up. Next you will need to push the “find” button and this should bring up the port address and IP address that will show up in the pop up screen as shown in Fig 2. Note: You should write these down on a piece of paper because you will need them later.

(Figure 2) Now click on “use selected” button. You will need to close the two windows by first clicking on cancel and then on close. Now you can test your connection by going to the connections button and clicking on network. After you connect you can disconnect. Now it is time to set up the ISY from Universal-Devices. Step 1. Take the PLM and plug it into the wall.

Figure 4 Now you will need to install all of you switches into the system. Refer to the Universal Devices owner’s manual for complete instructions. After you installed all of the switches and scenes into the program you will need to click on the “Configuration” tab and then the M1XEP tab. You should see a screen just like Fig 5.

Figure 5 Once you have reached this point you are going to refer to the paper where you wrote down the IP address and Port address of the ELK M1XEP. You will type that information in the boxes provided. See Fig 5. When you have finished you should click save on the bottom of the screen. Now click on the “Generate ELK export file” button and save it to the desktop. Now it is time to go back to the ELK and login into the M1Gold by using the steps we learned before.

Figure 6 After you have imported the lighting file you will want to click future next to all of your switches and show next to the switches you want to see on the touch screen. After that you can click on the send control button right below the lighting descriptions. Once you have done that you can disconnect from the system and save your file.

Figure 7 Now go to the ELK keypad (figure 7) and press the Menu (ELK) button then push the button to the right and then the button up and then the button to the right. If you push the # symbol the light will go on when the button is pushed and then go off with another push. Notes: Make sure that you have installed the latest version of the ELK RP software.
