Quick Set Up 1 Push the 2 locking buttons simultaneously to release each of the left and right folding legs. You will hear a click as the legs engage and lock downwards to its full open position. Installation of Travel Band. 1 Hook left side of travel band (logo side) onto the left handle while both legs are locked in closed position. 2 Center and gently pull travel band over lid. 3 Push down tab on travel band hook onto right handle to secure band and lid in place.
Gas Hook Up Use propane cylinders with a capacity of 14.1oz or 16.4oz. You can find these tanks available in most of the sporting and hardware stores. WARNING: Use cylinders that are marked “Propane fuel” only. NOTE: Your Element Portable gas barbecue grill is equipped with a cylinder supply system designed for vapor withdrawal. While holding carrying handle closest to propane cylinder with one hand, push propane cylinder into regulator and turn clockwise until tight.
WARNING: Do not use a wrench to tighten the connection. Using a wrench could damage the regulator coupling and could cause a leak. WARNING: (a)Never store an extra (spare) LP cylinder under or near your gas barbecue. (b) Never fill LP cylinder beyond 80 percent full. (c) If the information in (a) and (b) is not followed exactly, a fire causing death or serious injury may occur.
Leak Testing After a period of nonuse, we recommend that you perform the following maintenance procedures for your safety. Inspect the burner for correct flame pattern. Clean if necessary, following the procedures outlined in the “General Maintenance” section of this manual. Check all gas fittings for leaks. WARNING: You should check for gas leaks every time you disconnect and reconnect a gas fitting. NOTE: All factory-made connections have been thoroughly checked for gas leaks.
CHECK: 1) Regulator-to-propane cylinder connection. WARNING: If there is a leak at connection (1), remove propane cylinder. Do not operate grill. Use a different propane cylinder and recheck for leaks with soap and FIG. 07. water solution. If a leak persists after retightening the propane cylinder, turn OFF the gas. DO 1) . Lighting Instruction Warning: Before Lighting, make sure control knob indication is at the (OFF) position and entire hose assembly is in proper working condition. IMPORTANT Control Knob. The correct flame pattern: 1: Burner tube 2: Tips occasionally flicker yellow 3: Light blue 4: Dark blue If flames do not appear to be uniform throughout the burner tube, check if the ventilation openings of the burner tube are blocked by dirt, debris, spider webs, etc. In order for burner to work properly there must be no obstructing the flow of combustion or ventilation air.
FIG.13. FIG.11. Orifice Cleaning: Shine a flashlight to ensure there is no blockage. Use a needle to clear any debris. Be extremely careful not to enlarge the hole or break off the needle. NOTE: Installation after cleaning: After the cleaning, properly locate and re-attach the burner. Adjust the igniter tip located near the burner edge so that it is approximately 2-4mm away from the burner surface. See FIG.10. FIG.12.
. Cast Iron Grate Cleaning: Clean the cast iron grate with a wire brush. Igniter Tip Cleaning: If lighting the burner is difficult you may need to clean and adjust the igniter tip located near the burner edge. To ensure that the igniter lights properly, clean off any cooking residue that builds up on igniter tip and burner. Use a very fine grit sand paper to clean igniter tip and edge of burner. Igniter tip should be 2–4 mm away from burner surface.
Using The Grill Cast Iron Grate Seasoning It is recommended to season your cast iron grate before you begin cooking on your Element Portable Gas Grill. A well-seasoned grate will resist rust and create a virtually nonstick surface for cooking. 1. Brush vegetable oil lightly over cast iron pieces to coat the entire surface. 2. Heat the grate to approximately 250 degrees Fahrenheit (120 degrees Celsius) on low over your grill for approximately 1/2 hour. 3.
