12.6 TRANSFERRING SAMPLES
You should use the free Elektron Transfer software to transfer samples to and from your Model:Samples
and a computer. You can download the Elektron Transfer software and the Transfer User Manual from the
Support section of the Elektron website, www.elektron.se
12.6.1 TRANSFERRING SAMPLES TO MODEL:SAMPLES FROM A COMPUTER
1. Connect Model:Samples to the computer via USB.
2. Open the Elektron Transfer software (available on the Elektron website) on your computer.
3. On the Transfer CONNECTIONS page, set the MIDI IN and OUT ports to your Model:Samples.
4. On the Transfer DROP page, drag and drop the samples to the Transfer main window. The samples
are automatically transferred to a default directory (if no other is set) “transfers-yymmdd” that is
created in the +Drive storage of the Model:Samples. You can change the directory name to whatev-
er you chose. Transfer automatically converts all audio files to 16 bit, 48 kHz, mono audio files, the
Model:Samples native audio format.
To use the samples, they need to be assigned to a track in a pattern. For more information, please see
“12.3 ASSIGNING A SAMPLE TO A TRACK” on page 42.
12.6.2 RECEIVING SAMPLES VIA MIDI SAMPLE DUMP STANDARD (SDS)
The Model:Samples still supports sample transfer via MIDI Sample Dump Standard (SDS) and Extended
SDS. The Elektron C6 software supports this transfer protocol. You need to enable SDS Handshake to
secure the transmission over fast interfaces like USB MIDI. You also have to enable the transmission of
the Extended SDS header if you want the sample name to be sent to the Model:Samples.
Samples received via SDS are placed in the INCOMING folder in the root of the +Drive.
