Mulple baeries in series (=string), parallel or in a matrix connecon (serial/parallel combined) can also
be simulated. Baery voltage and current will be scaled accordingly.
Series: number of baeries in serial connecon. The single baery voltage is mulplied with Series
Parallels: number of baeries or baery strings in parallel connecon. The single baery current and
capacity is mulplied with Parallels.
Adjustable range: 1...100
The praccal result of the sengs here depends on the device type you are using. For instance,
100 Lithium-Ion baeries in series can only be simulated correctly if the power supply can at
least provide or sink a voltage of 420 V.
Example of a matrix: 5 Lead-Acid baeries with 12 V in series form a string, 4 strings in parallel form a
matrix. Every simulated baery has a capacity of 80 Ah. The matrix results in a total capacity of 320 Ah
and a total baery voltage of 60 V.
3 Inial state
All values in group “Inial state” and group “Cuto limits” are always related to one baery!
Denes the inial state of the simulated baery.
SOC: state of charge in per cent. A fully charged baery is considered as 100%, while 0% state of charge
corresponds to a fully discharged baery. “Discharged” corresponds to approx. 2.5 V discharging end voltage
with a Lithium-Ion baery and for a 12 V Lead-Acid baery this level is approx. 10.5 V.
Capacity = denes the capacity of one simulated baery in mAh. Ranges:
Lead-Acid = 35000...140000 mAh
Lithium-Ion = 20000...80000 mAh
Temperature = denes the inial temperature of the baery body within -10 ... 50 °C (14...122 °F). Typically
and with an unused baery, this is supposed to be the same value as the ambient temperature.
Internal resistance: acvang this input box will lock the input boxes for SOC and Temperature and also
resets their values because the inial internal resistance is only valid for an SOC seng of 100% and a baery
temperature of 23°C (73.4°F). Vice versa, deacvang the resistance input will unlock the other two again.
Adjustment ranges: Lead-Acid 3000...6000 μΩ, Lithium-Ion 1000...2000 μΩ
4 Ambient Ambient temperature, adjustable within -10 ... 50 °C (14...122 °F)
5 Cuto limits
Denes several limits which can cause the simulaon to stop automacally when reached.
Current cuto limit (fuse): threshold for charging or discharging current, can be considered like a circuit
breaker in line with the baery, except that it doesn’t physically cut the simulated baery from external
loads/sources. Once the threshold is reached, an OCP alarm is triggered and the test will stop. Range:
0...110% of device current rang
Voltage cuto upper limit: upper baery voltage limit for charging. Can be used to stop the simulaon
before or aer reaching 100% SOC, which would normally not stop the simulaon.
Voltage cuto lower limit: lower baery voltage limit for discharging. Can be used to stop the simulaon
before reaching an SOC of 0%.
Ranges for both voltage limits: see „4.8 Baery types“
6 Inialize
This buon inializes, i. e. resets the test condions to an inial state dened from all parameters in the
window. Its required to inialize the simulaon every me...
a) ...before a new simulaon is started, else the last simulaon would be connued.
b) ...any parameter has been changed, else the new seng wouldn’t submit.

Save/load cong-
uraon
Can be used to save the current conguraon, i. e. all sengs in the Baery Simulatortab into cong
les (*.csv) or load from such. The checkmark next to “Load conguraon at startup” acvates automac
loading of the most recently saved cong le. If there is no cong le, default values are set.
We recommend to include the baery type in the le name for clear disncon. If only one
license dongle is present, lets say one for Lead-Acid, a conguraon le for Lithium-Ion could
not be loaded and vice versa.
8 Logging status
9
Refreshes the drop down selector by re-checking for plugged dongles. If the dongle type has changed, the
selector will also change automacally. If a second dongle with a dierent license has been added, the
selector will be unlocked.
