3. AccessPointMasquerade Mode
TheAccessPointMasquerademodeisaspecialuseoftheAccessPointmodewheretheHorizonwillconnectmobile
clientsintoasinglestaticIPaddressonawirednetwork.Datarequests fromthewirelessnetworkwillbeprocessed
through the Access Point Masquerade mod
em, but any request from the wired Ethernet network to devices on the
wireless network will be rejected similar to the operation of a “firewall”.The Horizon will hide all the IP addresses
connectedonthewirelesslink.YouwouldusethismodeofoperationifHorizonisconnecteddirectlytotheInterne
t
withastaticIPaddress(DSL,T1,etc.)andyouwantthewirelessclientstoaccesstheinformationthroughtheHorizon
(Figure4).ThismodeshouldalsobeusedforattachingtheHorizontoanetworkwherefewIPaddressesareavail a ble
orafirewallforthewirelessclientsis required.

epeater)Mode
TheAccessPointPeerconnectionisauniqueenhancementoftheESTeemHorizonseries.TheAccessPointRepeater
canbeusedwithanyoftheaboveAccessPointmodes.Withthisrepeaterfeatureenabled,theAccessPointsdonot
have to be hardw
ired together on the same physical LAN to provide seamless Ethernet communication for roaming
clients.InadditiontogreatlyextendingtheAccessPointcanopyrange,theHorizonwillalsobridgeanyEthernetdevice
or Ethernet networkconnected to theunit over thissame wireless Ethernet network.This mode givesthe user th
e
featuresofapointtomulti‐pointbridgenetworkbutalsoallowstheHorizonintheClientmodetosimultaneouslyroam
underthenetworkcanopy.
