MODESOFOPERATION
The ESTeemHorizon is a sophisticated wireless networking devicethat can be configured for multiplemodes of operation.
DeterminingthecorrectmodeofoperationfortheESTeemisthefirststepincreatingareliablewirelessnetwork.Thischapter
will explain each mode of operation, provide example applications and detailed programming information for ea
ch mode.

EthernetBridgeMode(APBridge)
ThemostcommonlyusedmodeofoperationwiththeESTeemHorizonistheEt
hernetbridgemode.TheEthernetbridgemode
willconnecttwoormoreESTeemHorizon’swhile passingallnetworktrafficthatarrivesinboththewirelessandconnected
Ethernetports;includingallglobalnetworktraffic(Figure1).ThismodewillworkinmostwirelessapplicationsoftheHorizon
towirelesslyc
onnecttwoormoreremoteEthernetdevicesornetworks.TheEthernetbridgemodeisalsousedinrepeating
(Figure2)andinself‐healingMeshnetworks(Figure3)forfixed(non‐mobile)applications.
