IMPORTANT INFORMATION GENERAL • Before using the unit, read these operating instructions carefully, including all the information on operating safety, use and maintenance. • Keep these operating instructions ready at hand and leave them with the machine, so that all users can find out about the functions and safety regulations. • Ensure that there is sufficient room around the unit for air circulation. Please refer to the installation information regarding this point.
INSTALLATION LOCATION • The unit must be set up in a dry well-ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight or locating it close to a heat source. • Ensure that the unit is steady and perfectly straight and does not knock against any of the units next to it. • The air must be allowed to circulate freely all round the unit as good air circulation is essential for trouble-free operation. There must always be a gap of at least 70mm all round the unit. Upright units must always be at least 50cm away from the ceiling.
CLEANING/DISINFECTING • Clean or disinfect the unit inside and outside before using it. Use only gentle cleaning agents. Never use aggressive or caustic cleaning agents, scouring powder, steel wool, abrasive sponges or chemical solvents. When cleaning, make sure that no fluids of any kind run into the ventilation housing.
• DISPLAY AND KEYPAD red LED ((power failure) 2 green LED (power ok) key switch temperature alarm LED alarm history keys / LEDs display reset button LED test parameter keys SWITCHING ON • To switch the unit on, turn the key switch to position “I”. The electronics will then run the following self-test: • test of all the display segments • test of all the LEDs • test of the audible signal • After the self-test, the temperature inside the refrigerator is displayed.
HAL Upper alarm point The maximum permissible inside temperature. An alarm is triggered when this value is reached. LAL Lower alarm point The minimum permissible inside temperature. An alarm is triggered when this value is reached. IMPORTANT: For units from the BR model series (blood banks), the temperature set point and the two alarm points are prescribed by the standard governing blood-preserving refrigerating equipment (DIN 58371) and therefore cannot be changed by the customer.
POWER FAILURE • In the event of a power failure, the red POWER FAIL LED flashes and an audible alarm sounds. The audible alarm can be muted for a certain period of time (MUD parameter) by pressing the key. • After a certain interval, the display switches off automatically. However, the inside temperature can be displayed again by pressing the key. • No parameters can be changed during a power failure.
ALARM HISTORY • The Alarm History contains all the relevant values that occurred during a temperature alarm. If either of the two Alarm History LEDs comes on, this means that data can be retrieved from the memory. • To retrieve data from the memory, the relevant Alarm History key (for the warm alarm) or (for the cold alarm) must be pressed.
• The audible signal can be muted for a certain period of time by pressing the key (MUD parameter). If the alarm situation persists beyond this time, the audible alarm comes back on. • In both these situations, you must try to discover the cause of the alarm and eliminate it as quickly as possible. If this is not successful, you must immediately take the necessary action to ensure that the goods being stored are not harmed.
EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE ALARM FUNCTION Resting state • There are three floating contacts on the back of the unit that can be used to trigger an additional external temperature alarm (visual or audible). • Pressing the key in an alarm situation only switches off the internal audible alarm. The key does not interfere with the external alarm. The external alarm signal is only switched off once the cause of the alarm has been eliminated.
RS485 INTERFACE • Depending on the fittings provided, the unit may have an RS485 interface. You can use this interface to connect the unit to a PC or to network it to other refrigerating equipment. • It is possible to add the interface to any of the units later on. • For information about connection options and software, contact your local service centre. EXTERNAL POWER FAILURE ALARM • As well as an external temperature alarm, it is also possible to subsequently fit an external alarm for power failure.
MACHINE COMPARTMENT IMPORTANT: Before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning work in the machine compartment, always switch off the unit and remove the plug from the mains. • The condenser/liquefier must be dusted regularly using a hand brush or a vacuum cleaner. The cleaning interval is specified at the factory and is indicated by the appearance of the CLEAN message on the display. DEFROSTING (FR UNITS AND MF600G/MF605 ONLY) • FR units and MF600G/MF605 are fitted with automatic defrosting.
