PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLATION This cooker is heavy and care must be taken when moving it. Ensure that all packaging, both inside and outside the cooker has been removed before the cooker is used. DURING OPERATION Do not use this cooker if it is in contact with water and never operate it with wet hands.
Ensure that all vents are left unobstructed to ensure ventilation of the oven. Do not leave utensils containing foodstuffs, e.g. fat or oil in or on the cooker in case it is inadvertently switched ON. You must ensure that the grill control is in the 'OFF' position when the timer control has been set for automatic cooking. Cookers and hobs become very hot, and retain their heat for a long period of time after use. Children should be kept well away from the cooker until it has cooled.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW GETTING THINGS READY WARNINGS: CHOICE OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION l There are three possible ways to connect your cooker. In each case the cooker should be operated using at least 6mm² twin core and earth PVC insulated multicore cable. Please choose from the most appropriate after reading the different methods:- l l l l l This cooker must be installed by a qualified electrician/competent person.

HOW TO FINISH UNPACKING l l l l Place packed cooker next to the cabinet in which it will be installed. Carefully score down from each end of the cable sheathing along the length of the bare earth wire (if a cut was made along the length of the live or neutral wires, it might cut into their sheathing) to the cuts already made. Remove the cooker packing except for bottom tray which should be left in position until the cooker is ready to be fitted into its cabinet.
l Lift cover and remove screw from cable clamp. See Fig. 5. l l Clamp the mains cable securely ensuring 5mm of the outer insulation is inside the terminal block and that the wires are not taught but not so slack as to cause any fouling. See Fig. 6. Place fuse/ miniature circuit breaker in circuit and switch on at mains. CONNECTING TO A HOB OR COOKER POINT WARNING: THIS COOKER MUST BE EARTHED. l Feed the cable through the cabinet and arrange to route the cable away from the cooker which may become hot.
FITTING INTO THE CABINET IMPORTANT: Ensure that the oven is switched off at the wall before any further work is carried out. l l l l l Using a tape measure establish the internal width of the cabinet. Refer to page 7 if greater than 565mm. Position the cooker in front of the cabinet. See Fig. 7. Take out all oven furniture before installation to reduce the weight you need to lift. The oven door should be taped up to keep it closed whilst lifting. Fig.

INTRODUCTION RATING PLATE COOKWARE Record the model, product and serial numbers of your cooker on the back cover of this instruction book. These numbers can be found on the lower front frame of the cooker upon opening the main oven door. Baking trays, oven dishes etc., should not be placed directly against the grid covering the fan at the back of the oven. Do not use baking trays larger than 30cm x 35cm (12" x 14") as they will restrict the circulation of heat and may affect performance.
GRILL AND OVEN FURNITURE The following items of grill and oven furniture have been supplied with the cooker. 1 grill pan 1 grill pan handle 1 grill pan grid 1 grill deflector 1 meat tin 1 trivet 1 cranked shelf (for grilling and top oven cooking only) 2 straight shelves (for main oven cooking) The grill deflector sits above the grill element and prevents fat splashing onto the grill roof. The deflector may be easily removed for cleaning.
THE OVEN TIMER Please note that this is a 24 hour clock, for example 2.00 pm is shown as 1400. In the following pages we explain how to set the controls. Read through them a few times until you are familiar with the procedure. We have supplied a plastic card as a quick reference when setting the timer. If the oven is switched off on the wall, or there is a loss of power, the clock will stop and you will not be able to use the main oven.
AUTOMATIC CONTROL Important: You can only use the automatic control for the main oven. When you use the automatic controls for the first time it's probably best to choose a time when you are at home. That way you can check to make sure you've set everything correctly and you'll feel much more confident when you are away from home in the future. SETTING THE CONTROLS FOR AUTOMATIC USE This is very easy. All you have to do is work through the steps below. The clock will work out the rest for itself.
THE GRILL USES OF THE DUAL GRILL CAUTION - ACCESSIBLE PARTS MAY BECOME HOT WHEN THE GRILL IS IN USE. CHILDREN SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY. The grill is a dual circuit grill which means that the whole area of the grill can be used or, for economy purposes the centre section only can be used when cooking smaller quantities of food. SELECTING THE DUAL GRILL l l Turn the grill control clockwise for full grill or anticlockwise for the centre section only. Ensure the handle is correctly located.
HINTS AND TIPS l l l l l l GRILLING CHART In order to become acquainted with the performance of the Dual Grill it is advisable to check food regularly when grilling. Food should be thoroughly dried before grilling to minimise splashing. Brush lean meats and fish lightly with a little oil or melted butter to keep them moist during cooking. Adjust the height of the grilling grid and grill pan runner position to allow for different foods.
THE TOP OVEN USES OF THE TOP OVEN The top oven is the smaller of the two ovens. It is heated by elements in the top and bottom of the oven. It is designed for cooking smaller quantities of food. It gives especially good results if used to cook fruit cakes, sweet and savoury flans or quiche. The top oven is also ideal for use as a warming compartment to warm dishes and keep food hot. Use a temperature setting of 90° - 100°C on the top oven temperature control.
l l l l l l There should always be at least 2.5cm (1") between the top of the food and the element. This gives best cooking results and allows room for rise in yeast mixtures, Yorkshire puddings etc. When cooking cakes, pastry, scones, bread etc., place the tins or baking trays centrally below the element. Ensure that food is placed centrally on the shelf and there is sufficient room around the baking tray/dish to allow for maximum circulation.
THE MAIN FAN OVEN USES OF THE FAN OVEN PREHEATING The fan oven quickly reaches its temperature, so it is not usually necessary to preheat the oven. Without preheating however, you may find you need to add an extra 5-10 minutes on the recommended cooking times. For recipes needing high temperatures, e.g. bread, pastries, scones, soufflés, etc., best results are achieved if the oven is preheated first. COOKING TEMPERATURES Fan oven cooking generally requires lower temperatures than conventional cooking.
TO FIT THE MAIN OVEN SHELVES The shelves should be fitted with the straight rods uppermost on the frame and the forms towards the back of the oven. If not fitted correctly the anti-tilt and safety stop mechanism will be affected. Only use straight shelves in the main oven. l l l HINTS AND TIPS l l l l Arrange the shelves in the required positions before switching the oven ON. Shelves are numbered from the bottom upwards.

DEFROSTING USES OF DEFROST FEATURE This main oven function defrosts most foods faster than more conventional methods. It is particularly suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold, e.g. cream filled gateaux, cakes covered with icings or frostings, cheesecakes, biscuits, scones, etc. Small or thin fish fillets, frozen peeled prawns, cubed or minced meat, liver, thin chops, steaks etc., can be thawed in 1 - 2 hours. A 1kg/2¼lb oven ready chicken will be thawed in approximately 5 hours.
HELPFUL HINTS WHEN BUYING AND PREPARING FOOD Care must be taken when handling foods in the home. Always follow the basic rules of food hygiene to prevent bacterial and microbial growth and cross contamination when preparing, reheating, cooking, cooling, defrosting and freezing foods:1. Always ensure food you purchase is of good quality and in prime condition. Shop at a reliable source and buy the 'freshest' looking package avoid shop-worn labels or produce covered in dust. 2.
CARE AND CLEANING BEFORE CLEANING ALWAYS ALLOW THE COOLING FAN TO COOL THE COOKER DOWN BEFORE SWITCHING OFF AT THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY CLEANING MATERIALS Before using any cleaning materials on your cooker, check that they are suitable and that their use is recommended by the manufacturer. Cleaners that contain bleach should NOT be used as they may dull the surface finishes. Harsh abrasives should also be avoided.
CLEANING BETWEEN THE OUTER AND INNER DOOR GLASS TO REPLACE THE OUTER GLASS 1. Open the oven door with care and place in the park position at an angle of approximately 30°. The outer door glass is removable for cleaning. TO REMOVE THE OUTER GLASS 1. Open the oven door slightly to gain access to the two cross head screws on the top of the oven door. 2. Loosen the two screws using a Pozidrive screwdriver. 3.
HINTS AND TIPS l Manual cleaning of Stayclean is not recommended. Damage will occur if oven sprays or abrasives of any kind are used. REPLACING THE OVEN LIGHT BULB The type of bulb required is a 300C 25 watt small Edison Screw. Part number 572 491 5431-00/1. (Available through Electrolux service centres). CAUTION: DISCONNECT THE COOKER FROM THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BEFORE REPLACING THE BULB. Open door and remove the shelves to enable easy access to the oven light assembly.
SOMETHING NOT WORKING? Before calling an Engineer please carry out the following checks, you may be able to solve the problem without the expense of an Engineer. The oven temperature is too high or low. * Check that the recommended temperatures are being used (see page 23). Be prepared to adjust up or down by 10°C to achieve the results you want. * Care should be taken if using an oven thermometer to check oven temperatures as they may be inaccurate.
