Operating Instructions OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Safety Instructions The safety aspects of AEG electrical appliances comply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law. Nevertheless, as a manufacturer we consider it our obligation to make you aware of the following safety information: Installation, Connection and Placing into Operation • The dishwasher may only be transported upright. • Check the dishwasher for transport damage.
Operating Instructions • Never place the dishwasher in operation if the mains cable, water inlet or drain hose is damaged; or the control panel, work top or plinth area is damaged such that the inside of the appliance is freely accessible. • If the mains lead is damaged, or is to be replaced for a longer lead, the cable (obtainable from AEG Service Force) must be changed by a service engineer authorised by AEG. • Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the cable, always pull the plug.
Operating Instructions • In the event of a fault, first close the tap, then switch off the appliance and unplug it from the mains. If the appliance is permanently wired to the mains: remove the fuse. 2 Disposal Disposing of the Packaging Material Dispose of the dishwasher packaging material correctly. Operating Instructions Control Panel Function Buttons 1 3 2 4 Function Buttons Door Handle Control Panel Set Start Delay Control Indicators Multi-Display The control panel consists of the ON/OFF button and the programme buttons with LED displays.
Operating Instructions Control Indicators have the following significance: J H ^ [ 3 Refill with special salt Refill with rinse aid Open the tap Clean the dishwasher’s filter system The [ indicator is intended to remind you to check the filters in the dishwasher from time to time and, if necessary, to clean it. The indicator illuminates at regular intervals, independent of the amount of soiling of the filters.
Operating Instructions Setting the water softener To avoid scale deposits on the dishes and in the dishwasher, the dishes must be washed with soft water, i.e. water with a low lime content. The dishwasher therefore has a built-in water softener, in which tap water with a hardness of 4°d (German degree) and harder is softened with the aid of special salt. 3 Your local water authority will be able to inform you about the hardness and hardness range of the water in your area.
Operating Instructions Setting the water softener 0 Using the table as a guide, adjust the water softener to that which corresponds to the hardness of the water in your area: The dishwasher must be switched off. Manual setting: 1. Open the dishwasher door. 2. Remove the lower basket from the dishwasher. 3. Turn the hardness range switch to 0 or 1 (see table). 4. Replace the lower basket. Electronic setting: 1. Press the ON/OFF button. The LED in the ON/OFF button will become illuminated.
Operating Instructions Special salt for the water softener 3 If the water hardness in your area is less than 4 °d, then the water in your dishwasher does not need to be softened and you do not need to use special salt or salt substitute. Water can be softened in one of two ways: • If you are using dishwasher detergent that already contains salt substitute, the detergent only is put into the detergent compartment.
Operating Instructions 3 If the water softener is electronically set at “1” for the purpose of using detergent that includes special salt, the special salt indicator is deactivated. Adding special salt If you are using dishwasher detergent and special salt separately, add the special salt: – Before using the dishwasher for the first time. – When the indicator for special salt SALT is illuminated on the control panel. 0 1. Operating Instructions Rinse Aid Rinse aid ensures thorough rinsing, spot and streak free drying of dishes and glassware. Rinse aid can be added in one of two ways: • If you are using dishwasher detergent that already contains rinse aid, the detergent including the rinse aid is put into the detergent compartment. – In this case the dispensing of rinse aid from the dispenser must be deactivated to avoid a double dosage.
Operating Instructions The multi-display will indicate the current setting: 0d Rinse aid dispenser deactivated 1d Rinse aid dispenser activated (factory setting) 4. Pressing function button 2 changes the setting. 5. Once the multi-display is indicating the required setting, press the ON/OFF button. The setting is now saved.
Operating Instructions 4. Fill with rinse aid exactly up to the level marked “max”; this corresponds to a quantity of approx. 140 ml. 5. Close the lid and press until it locks into place. 6. Wipe up any spilt rinse aid with a cloth. Otherwise too much foam will be formed during the wash. Adjusting Rinse Aid Dosing 3 As the dishes are washed rinse aid is released from the dispenser into the wash water. The dose is factory set at 4, and can be adjusted from 1 to 6.
Operating Instructions In Daily Use • Check the salt and rinse aid levels. • Load cutlery and dishes into the dishwasher • Fill with dishwasher detergent • Select a wash programme suitable for the cutlery and dishes • Start the wash programme Loading Cutlery and Dishes 1 Sponges, household cloths and any object that can absorb water should not be washed in the dishwasher.
Operating Instructions – Do not lay small objects (e.g. lids) in the cutlery rack Loading Cutlery 1 1 Long bladed knives stored in an upright position are a potential hazard. 1 Take care when loading or unloading sharp items such as knives. 0 Place knives, small spoons and small forks in the cutlery tray. Long and/or sharp items of cutlery such as carving knives must be positioned horizontally in the upper basket. Place forks and spoons that do not fit in the cutlery tray in the cutlery basket.
Operating Instructions On some models of dishwasher it is possible to open the cutlery basket. To ensure that the cutlery basket cannot open on removal from the appliance, you should always hold both parts of the two part handle. 0 1. Place the cutlery basket on a table or work surface 2. Your dishwasher has one of the following four types of lower basket: Type 1: None of the plate inserts in the lower basket can be removed Type 2: The right-hand plate inserts in the lower basket can be folded over to the left 3 To ease the loading of large items, the two right-hand plate inserts in the lower basket can be folded over to the left 1.

Operating Instructions Loading Cups, Glasses and Coffee Services Load small, delicate items and long pointed cutlery in the upper basket. • Arrange items of crockery on the folding cups racks so that they are offset from each other and water can reach all items. • The cup racks can be folded up out of the way for tall items. • Lay or hang wine, champagne, and brandy glasses in the cut outs on the cup racks. • Glasses, beakers, etc.

The detergent is released into the wash water during the programme. Please observe the manufacturer's dosing and storage recommendations as stated on the detergent packaging. Operating Instructions Use of "3 in 1"/ Combi Detergent Tablets General Advice These products are tablets with combined detergent/rinse-aid and salt functions. 0 1. Before using these products you should first check that the water hardness in your supply is compatible with the use of these products as per the detergent manufacturers instructions (on the product packaging). 2. These products should be strictly used according to the detergent manufacturers instructions.
Operating Instructions Concentrated Detergent Based on their chemical composition, dishwasher detergents can be split into two basic types: – conventional, alkaline detergents with caustic components – low alkaline concentrated detergents with natural enzymes.

Operating Instructions Starting a programme 0 1. Check that the dishes and cutlery are stacked in the dishwasher in such a way that the spray arms are free to rotate. 2. Turn on the water tap fully. 3. Close the door. 4. Press the ON/OFF button. The LED in the ON/OFF button will illuminate. 5. Press the relevant button for the programme required (see “Programme Chart”). The programme display will become illuminated. The remaining time for the programme will be shown in the multi-display.
Operating Instructions Interrupting the programme by opening the dishwasher door Hot steam may escape when the door is opened. There is a risk of scalding. Open the door carefully. 0 1. Open the door of the dishwasher. The programme will stop. 2. Close the door. The programme will continue. 1 Cancelling the programme (RESET) 0 1. Press the function buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously and keep them pressed. The programme display for the current programme will flash for several seconds and then go out. 2.
Operating Instructions 5. Press the relevant button for the cycle required (see ”Cycle Table”). The selected cycle will begin after approximately 3 seconds. The function can no longer be changed after the cycle has begun. In this case the dishwashing cycle must be aborted by pressing RESET, and must then be reselected. 3 If the additional function has been selected once, it will remain activated for all subsequent wash cycles unless it is deactivated by pressing the button again.
Operating Instructions Changing the programme after the start delay has been set: As long as the programme has not started, you can still change the start delay set by pressing a programme button. 0 1. Press the button for the new programme and hold it down. First the indicator for the programme that has just been selected will flash. After several seconds only the indicator for the new programme will be flashing. 2. Release the programme button.
Operating Instructions Care and Cleaning 1 Do not under any circumstances use furniture care products or aggressive cleaners. • If necessary, clean the controls only with a soft cloth and pure warm water. • Occasionally check the internal containers, door seal, and water inlet for soiling, clean if necessary. Cleaning the Filter The filters should be checked and cleaned regularly. Dirty filters will give poor wash results. 0 1. Open the door, remove the lower basket. 2.
Operating Instructions 7. Put the flat filter back in the base of the washing compartment 8. Place the coarse/fine filter in the microfilter and press together. 9. Put the filter combination in place and lock by turning the handle clockwise to the stop. During this process ensure that the flat filter does not protrude above the base of the washing compartment. 1 The dishwasher must not be used without filters under any circumstances.
Operating Instructions What to do, if ... Try to rectify minor faults on the dishwasher with the aid of the instructions given here. If you call an engineer to resolve a of fault listed here, or to repair a fault caused by incorrect use or installation, a charge will be made even if the appliance is in guarantee. ...Error messages are displayed. If any of the indicators in the control panel, as listed in the table below, are flashing or are illuminated, you can probably rectify the fault yourself.
Operating Instructions Malfunction Possible cause The FILTER indicator is continuously illuminated. The FILTER indicator is only intended to remind you to occasionally check the dishwasher’s filter and to clean it out when necessary. It illuminates at regular intervals, regardless of the state of cleanliness of the filter. Remedy The indicator goes out automatically at the start of the next programme. After remedying the FILTER error, shut the door.

Installation and Connection Instructions INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS Installing the Dishwasher • The dishwasher must be installed on a firm floor and adjusted such that it is stable and level. • To compensate for unevenness in the floor and to match the height of the appliance to that of surrounding units extend the threaded feet by unscrewing: – use a screwdriver. • For built-in dishwashers the rear feet should be adjusted from the front of the appliance using a screwdriver.
Installation and Connection Instructions If the dishwasher is installed underneath a kitchen work surface, the original work surface of the dishwasher is to be removed as follows: 0 1. Unscrew the screws from the positioning plates on the back (1). 2. Slide the appliance's work surface approx. 1 cm to the rear (2). 3. Lift the work surface at the front (3) and remove. 42 1 If the dishwasher is later used as a free-standing appliance, the original work surface must be re-mounted.
Installation and Connection Instructions Connecting the Dishwasher Water Connection The dishwasher is fitted with safety devices that prevent the wash water returning into the drinking water system and comply with the applicable plumbing regulations. • The dishwasher must be connected to a cold water supply. • The dishwasher must not be connected to open hot water appliances or instantaneous water heaters.
Installation and Connection Instructions 3 The following section is only applicable to dishwashers that have a safety valve on the threaded hose fitting for the tap: Water inlet hose with safety valve After connecting the double-walled water inlet hose, the safety valve is next to the tap. Therefore the water inlet hose is only under pressure while the water is running.
Installation and Connection Instructions Water drain Drain hose 1 The drain hose must not be kinked, crushed or entangled. • Connecting the drain hose: – Maximum permitted height: 1 metre. – Minimum required height 40 cm above the lower edge of the machine. Extension hoses • Extension hoses are available from AEG Service Force. The internal diameter of the extension hoses must be 19 mm to ensure that the function of the appliance is not impeded.
Installation and Connection Instructions Leak Prevention System For protection from damage due to water leaks, the dishwasher is equipped with a leak prevention system, the AQUA CONTROL SYSTEM. In the event of a fault, the safety valve in the appliance immediately interrupts the inflow of water and the drain pump is activated. By this means water can neither escape nor overflow. The remaining water in the appliance is automatically pumped out.
Installation and Connection Instructions Electrical Connection Any electrical work required to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNING - This appliance must be earthed. The manufacturer declines any responsibility should these safety measures not be observed. Before switching on make sure the electricity supply voltage is the same as that indicated on the appliance rating plate. To isolate the dishwasher from the mains, remove the mains plug.
