DO NOT use wire brushes, metal scrapers, metal files or
other metallic tools for cleaning.
3.3 AFTER TEST
After cleaning, ensure that all materials are removed and that the
instrument is dry.
Clean the viscosity cup and all the equipment used using a suitable
solvent.
The measured kinematic viscosity is generally expressed in seconds (s)
flow time, which can be converted to Centistokes (cSt), if stipulated in the
a
Standard. The Elcometer 2400 Viscosity Conversion Disc , Elcometer
ElcoCalc™ Mobile App (see www.elcometer.com) or the look-up tables in
Appendix 1 (after page jp-7) can be used for this purpose.

4 CARE & MAINTENANCE
Ÿ To check for wear, use Elcometer 2410 Viscosity Cup Standard
a
Calibration Oils in place of your liquid and measure the flow
time. If wear is detected, contact Elcometer or your local
Elcometer supplier.
Elcometer Viscosity Flow Cups are designed to give many years
reliable service under normal operating conditions.
Ÿ Regularly inspect the cup for damage to the orifice, scratches on
the internal surface or deformation as such flaws will affect the
readings and the cup may have to be replaced.
Ÿ Regular calibration checks over the life of the cup are a
requirement of quality management procedures e.g. ISO 9000
and other standards.
