Task 016: Testing Voice Connectivity
This procedure checks the voice connectivity in BitStorm 1900 voice/
data applications.
Requirements
The following is required to do this procedure:
• External voice facility point-of-presence equipment installed
• Tip/Ring assignments
• Standard telecommunications hand-test telephone set
Step Procedure
1.) Identify the voice line being tested. Turn on the BitStorm 1900™
Access Multiplexer.
2.) Connect the hand test set Tip and Ring testers to the Tip/Ring pair
at the customer premise cross-connect.
3.) Test for dial tone. A successful test indicates that voice service is
passing through the filter shelf.
4.) If no dial tone is present, refer to “Chapter 3 BitStorm 1900 Mainte-
nance” on page 127, for troubleshooting information.
