THP650D 6.5" IN-WALL DIPOLE SURROUND SOUND SPEAKER
The TheaterPoint THP650D is quite simply
one of the finest in-wall dipole surround
sound speakers available today.
Its unique, patent-pending design utilizes
the omni-directional qualities of low
frequency sound to minimize its in-wall
footprint yet maximize audio quality. A
6.5 in. woven Kevlar woofer is aimed
directly outward for maximum bass
dispersion. Opposing midrange and
tweeter banks are aimed away from the
listener at angles of 30 degrees off the
woofer’s acoustic axis, splitting and
focusing the sound field away from the
listener to create the diffuse ambient
sound required by some theater
technologies.
Unlike conventional dipoles, which utilize
dual woofers mounted on the same
acoustical planes as the midrange driver
and tweeter, the THP650D’s single
forward-firing 6.5 in. woofer not only
allows a much smaller size, but practically
eliminates the chance for low frequency
interference between the lower midrange
and upper bass frequencies.
The results are a combination of clean,
tight bass and smooth, perfectly-focused
mids and highs that are ideal for
surround sound signal reproduction.
