The VIA!2-SS1 System Station is an
RS-232, IR, Sense and Relay controller all
rolled into one. It is also the companion
component to the VIA!2-8.4 Wireless
Touch Panel, translating the wireless
panel’s 8.02.11b/g WiFi commands into
actions that can control just about every
aspect of a Home Theater or a zone in an
ELAN multi-room system.
Featuring the most flexible IR engine
from ELAN to date, the VIA!2-SS1 has
twelve fully-steerable IR output ports that
can be programmed with if/then/else
conditional statements and combined
with triggerable sequences to create the
ultimate in reliable IR system control. Six
Sense inputs allow for the connection of
ELAN
®
SENSE audio, video, current,
voltage, light and contact-closure sensors
for reliable power management and
automation features. The SS1’s eight
configurable relay outputs can be
incorporated into sequences and used
to automate home theater screens, lifts,
drapes, lighting and more.
The VIA!2-SS1 has four Serial Ports for
the integration of local RS-232 controlled
sub-systems and components. It is fully-
compatible with the VIA!-SC4 System
Controller, allowing access to and control
of any system (i.e. lighting, temperature,
security) connected to the SC4. Quick and
easy connection to the ELAN S12 Multi-
Room A/V Controller is accomplished
through dedicated IR Link. An Ethernet
port is provided for interaction with
network devices such as the VIA!2-8.4
Wireless Touch Panel. Independent LED
activity indicators for all four COM Ports,
the Ethernet port and the Host/ELAN
ports make for easy setup and
troubleshooting.
Future software/feature-set enhancements
to the VIA!2-SS1 Wireless Touch Panel are
all field-upgradeable through VIA!TOOLS
setup software.
