TOOLS software is used to program
VIA! Touch Panels and Z•PADs for ELAN
multi-room systems. It is also used to
program all the features and functions of
the VIA!2-SS1 System Station, the SC4
System Controller and SR1 Sense/Relay
Module, and contains all the IR code-sets
and RS-232 serial drivers for every ELAN
component. This updated version of
VIA!TOOLS also includes system setup
programming for the VIA!dvdj and
XM
TM
-R3 Triple Satellite Audio Receiver.

touch panels on the market today is its
quick-and-easy approach to
programming.
Intuitive icons guide the programmer
through each section. VIA!TOOLS
cookie-cutter approach allows importing
pre-designed VIA! or Z•PAD layouts for
just about any component being
integrated into the system. Programmers
can create and save their own templates,
or entire VIA! panels, which can be
imported for other jobs. Select from over
70 decor-matching motifs to enhance the
look of almost any room.
VIA!TOOLS ships on a CD ROM that
includes a library of pre-written serial
drivers for ELAN’s VIA! Integration
Partners (VIPs). These pre-written drivers
make it easy to integrate RS-232-
controlled devices into VIA!-controlled
systems. They eliminate hours, if not days,
of programming time. Included on the CD
ROM are serial drivers for some of the
industry’s top lighting, HVAC, security
system manufacturers and more.
VIA!TOOLS updates are available for
download from the dealer area of ELAN’s
web site, www.elanhomesystems.com.

VIA!TOOLS also features extremely
powerful “Help” tutorials that, with the
aid of animation, guide the installer step
by step through all of its programming
routines.
The included VIA! Learner is an easy-to-
use, high-performance IR learner that can
capture virtually any pulsed or carrier-
based IR command. Learn and test with
onboard IR blasters, and archive learned
libraries directly to the PC.
The VIA! Learner is also the download
interface between a PC and a VIA! Touch
Panel or Z•PAD.
VIA!TOOLS Software requires Windows

98 SE or higher operating systems on a PC
with one standard RS-232 or USB port*,
256 color 800 x 600 display, 16MB RAM
(min) and approximately 200MB free disk
space for associated files.
