®
interface complying to the CompactPCI
®
Specification
Revision 2.1. CompactPCI
®
is an industrial implementation of the familiar Peripheral Component
Interconnect (PCI) bus. It combines the well known electrical features of PCI with the more
robust mechanical 19 inch rack mounting technology. The interface supports 64-bit address and
32-bit data transfers. It is designed for a clock frequency of 33 MHz with a transfer rate of up to
132 Mbyte/s.
PCI Devices
The CompactPCI
®
interface is realized by the UART Controller (Oxford OXmPCI954). This
controller has four UARTs (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter. Two ports are
internally used, the other two ports could be used for custom specific solutions. Normally a
BIOS running on a host system detects these PCI devices at boot time.
