A copy of the standard software and stand-alone tape utilities that is shipped with a new Lucent

GOS

grade of service (GOS)
A parameter that describes the delays in accessing a port on the Lucent I
NTUITY system. For exam-
ple, if the GOS is P05, 95% of the callers hear the system answer and 5% hear ringing until a port
becomes available to answer the call.
guaranteed fax
A feature of Lucent I
NTUITY FAX Messaging that temporarily stores faxes sent to a fax machine. In
cases where the fax machine is busy or does not answer a call, the call is sent to an I
NTUITY AUDIX
mailbox.
guest password
A feature that allows callers who are not I
NTUITY AUDIX users to leave messages on the system by
dialing a user’s extension and entering a system-wide guest password.

hard disk drive
A high-capacity data-storage and -retrieval device that is located inside a computer. A hard disk
drive stores data on nonremovable high-density magnetic media based on a predetermined for-
mat for retrieval by the system at a later date.
hardware
The physical components of a computer system. The central processing unit, disks, tape, and
floppy drives are all hardware.
header
Information that the system creates to identify a message. A message header includes the origi-
nator or recipient, type of message, creation time, and delivery time.
help
A command run by pressing or on a Lucent I
NTUITY display terminal to show the
options available at your current screen position. In the I
NTUITY AUDIX system, press on the
telephone keypad to get a list of options. See also
on-line help

host switch
The switch directly connected to the Lucent I
NTUITY system over the data link. Also, the physical
link connecting a Lucent I
NTUITY system to a distributed communications system (DCS) network.
