RoboInfo Deployment Manual
60
To set file permissions for the publishing and reports group:
1 Give the RoboPublisher group "Read/Write" permissions to the Projects
folder under the engine for which you wish to grant access.
2 Give the group "Read/Execute" permissions to the Reports folder, including
all subfolders and existing files, under the engine for which you wish to
grant access.
3 This group also needs the following:
n "Write" permission to the root of the drive that the engine was
installed to. (Microsoft Access uses this folder as a TEMP folder.)
n "Change" permissions to the Winnt folder (apply to files in that folder).
n "Change" permissions to the System32 folder (apply to files in that
folder).
Security options for publishing
The engine uses the security features of Microsoft Internet Information Server
(IIS) and the Windows NT operating system to allow publishing from the
authoring tool to the engine. The Microsoft Management console allows you to
control how users access and interact with your content. The Windows NT file
system (NTFS) allows you to control access to your data files. Careful
consideration must be given to the following issues:
n By default, the NTFS allows all users to have full control of the
\inetpub\wwwroot folder.
n By default, write permission to the content (via the Internet Management
Console) is not selected. This setting should not be changed.
Note: When you install the engine, all users have access to publish content to
the WWW root folder.
n If the engine is installed on a standalone server, all attempts to publish
require authentication.
n If the engine is installed on a server that is a member of a Windows NT
domain, then all domain users are automatically authorized to publish
content to the server.
