Chapter 5 About RoboInsight Reports

Question grouping
The RoboInsight technology in RoboEngine intelligently and logically groups
similar questions together in reports. This feature enables authors to read and
share reports that are more accurate. Question grouping helps solve the
problem of looking at a report that contains long lists of questions that are
similar, but phrased in slightly different ways.
For example, users of your project may use the natural language search option
to ask the question "How do I add information?" fifteen times and ask "What do
I do to add new information?" five times. These two questions are automatically
grouped and matched as similar questions. The reports display these two
questions grouped together for a total count of twenty, thereby providing a
more accurate and streamlined report.
The following reports display grouped data:
n Frequently Asked Questions
n Unanswered Questions
Note: You can create a custom synonym list in the authoring tool, RoboInfo
Publisher, that gives you greater control over how questions are
grouped. All synonym lists are published with the project and used when
grouping questions in the database. For example, you can create a
synonym with the terms "shipping" and "mailing" so that the questions
"What are the shipping options?" and "What are the mailing options?"
are grouped together. For details about synonyms, see the RoboInfo
Publisher online Help system.
Question grouping consists of two processes:
n Identification of groups: This is the automatic process of analyzing all
existing questions to see how they can be organized into logical groups.
Group identification is a scheduled event that occurs, by default, weekly
(Sundays) at 2:00 A.M. Group identification can be scheduled daily or
weekly and any valid start time can be specified. Group identification can
also be turned off.
n Grouping of questions: This is the process of determining what existing
group, if any, a particular question falls into. Grouping occurs live, as
questions are asked.
Note: Currently, it is not possible to manually create or customize groups.
