CALIBRATION 54
Custom calibration settings
If you are printing on a paper that is similar to the recommended paper, but uses different
print settings, you might still be able to use the output profile, but you must create a custom
calibration setting. If the color quality is sufficient, you do not need to create a custom profile
(see scenario 3 in the table under “Output profiles and calibration settings on page 52).
You can add a new calibration setting that you can then select when performing calibration.
You can delete a custom calibration setting. You cannot delete a factory-supplied calibration
setting.
For instructions on adding a custom calibration setting, see Calibrator Help.
Custom calibration settings and output profiles
If you determine that none of the factory-supplied output profiles yields acceptable color with
your paper, you must create a custom calibration setting in Calibrator and a custom profile
using profile-generating software such as Fiery Color Profiler Suite (see scenario 4 in the table
under “Output profiles and calibration settings” on page 52). To create a custom calibration
setting, you print a page of color patches on the EX700i using your paper and measure the
page using Calibrator. If Fiery Color Profiler Suite is installed on your computer, you can start
it from within Calibrator to create a custom output profile immediately after creating a
custom calibration setting.
NOTE: Before creating a custom calibration setting and custom output profile, make sure that
the digital press is calibrated (if calibration is supported on the digital press). For information
about performing digital press calibration, see the documentation that accompanies the digital
press.
