3. Click Properties. The system responds with the “TCP/IP Properties” window.

4. Ensure that the Obtain an IP address automatically option is selected. This is the default Windows

settings.

5. Restart your computer to ensure it obtains an IP address from the Gateway.

Checking TCP/IP Settings (Windows 2000)

1. On the Windows taskbar click Start>Control Panel. The system responds with the “Control Panel”

window.

2. Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. The system responds with the “Network and Dial-

up Connections” window.

3. Right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties. The system responds with the “Local

Area Connections Properties” window.

4. Select the TCP/IP protocol for your network card.
