6.3 Early fire detection – EFD Plus
The EFD Plus is an early fire detection system, which already detects and reports fires when their still in the
pyrolysis phase.
Method of functioning:
Inside the EFD Plus housing, a fan creates a vacuum by which air from the safe is continuously taken in
through a system of piping and directed to the two smoke detectors. The highly sensitive fire alarm already
recognises fires at an early stage and triggers the advance alarm. The second fire alarm's smoke alarm,
which is responsible for the main alarm, becomes effective at a later point in time when between 3 and
5 %/m of the air becomes opaque.
The multiple malfunction, the advance and main alarms may be forwarded to the CMC-TC (monitoring sys-
tem) through the relay contacts (plug-and-play).

6.4 DET-AC fire alarm and extinguishing unit
The DET AC Plus system includes an early fire-detection system as well as an active fire-extinguishing sys-
tem. The environmentally-friendly extinguishing gas (NOVEC 1230) is contained in a very small container.
This innovation allows the fire-alarm and -extinguishing equipment to be integrated into a housing that is only
1 HU high.
The DET-AC fire-alarm and –extinguishing system is identical to the EFD Plus described above. The fire-
extinguishing system is automatically triggered as soon as the main alarm is set off. The multiple malfunc-
tion, the advance and main alarms may be forwarded to the CMC-TC (monitoring system) through the relay
contacts (plug-and-play).
