My First Microscope
Install 3 AAA batteries as shown on page 4 in this guide. Place an object
on the specimen tray. Switch on the light. Show your child how to look
through the eyepieces and turn the focusing knob. Encourage him or
her to find different items and examine them under the microscope.
Some interesting things to observe include: toys, money (coins and
bills), leaves, cloth, paper, and food. Ask your child to tell you how the
item looks different under the microscope and what details he or she
notices. Have paper and crayons available for your child to draw how
the item looks both with and without the microscope.
