Windows 95 and Windows NT4 do not support Plug and Play
technology. If you’re using one of these platforms, skip to “Manual
Installation of the Printer Driver” on page 62.

Ethernet connections don’t support Plug and Play technology. If you’re
using an Ethernet network connection, skip to “Windows—Ethernet
TCP/IP” on page 52.

Connect your printer to your PC with a parallel cable.

Under certain PC configurations, the
Software
Utilities
CD-ROM
automatically launches its own installation utility. If this should
occur during the Plug and Play procedure, cancel the Plug and
Play installation and install the driver using the CD-ROM installer
for easy access to online documentation.

With your PC turned off, turn on the printer (the power switch is on the
side of the printer), and then turn on your PC. A

message appears. Follow the directions for your
operating system:
Windows XP
Insert the
Software Utilities
CD-ROM, and close the CD-ROM
auto-installer window.
