PCL5e Drivers for
Windows XP
PCL5e allows limited
access to features on
the printer. Reasons to
use a PCL5 driver: the
application requires it
or you have problems
printing using the
PostScript driver.
Readme on the
Software Utilities
CD-ROM.
You cannot install a PCL5e driver for
Windows 9
x
or Windows NT4 without a
Windows CD-ROM. This CD-ROM is
required so you can supply the
following files when prompted:
For PCL5 9
x
ICONLIB.DDL,
UNIDRV.DLL, and UNIDRV.HLP
For PC5 NT4—RASDD.DLL,
RASDDUI.DLL, and RASDDUI.HLP.
If you install the driver and skip these
files, an error message displays at the
end of the process.

PCL6 Drivers for
Windows XP
(1200 dpi)
PCL6 allows access to
most of the features on
the printer. Reasons to
use a PCL6 driver: the
application requires it
or you have problems
printing using the

Windows Me, 98,
and 95
Notes
The PCL drivers support the same networks and connectivity
that the PostScript drivers do; however, on the Device Options
tab in the PCL5 9
x
driver, the only selectable option is Printer
Memory. The Printer Memory drop-down box allows you to
specify the amount of memory installed in the printer.
Some PCL drivers display both options you do have and those
you don’t have access to. For example, if you select duplex
printing, but you don’t have an optional duplexer attached to
your printer, the file will still print, but it will print simplex.
If the PCL6 driver does not provide the desired output, use the
PCL5e driver.
