I Product Information The EDIMAX GS-5424PLX long-range web-smart switch comes with a web based user interface, equipped with 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports, and SFP+ ports for 10 Gigabit uplinks and long-range copper or optical connections. The 10 GbE connectivity fully utilizes the power of your office networking for demanding tasks, such as data backup, video conferencing, IP surveillance, high volume transaction processing, large file transferring, and more.

II Installation This chapter describes how to install and connect your Edimax Switch. Read the following topics and perform the procedures in the correct order. Incorrect installation may cause damage to the product. II-1 Mounting the Switch There are two ways to physically set up the switch. Place the switch on a flat surface. To place the switch on a desktop, install the four rubber feet (included) on the bottom of the switch. Mount the switch in a standard rack (1 rack unit high).
II-1-2 Rack Mounting You can mount the switch in any standard size, 19-inch (about 48 cm) wide rack. The switch requires 1 rack unit (RU) of space, which is 1.75 inches (44.45 mm) high. For stability, load the rack from the bottom to the top, with the heaviest devices on the bottom. A top-heavy rack is likely to be unstable and may tip over.
2. Secure the switch on the equipment rack with the screws provided.
III Getting Started This section provides an introduction to the web-based configuration utility, and covers the following topics: Powering on the device Connecting to the network Power over Ethernet (PoE) considerations Starting the web-based configuration utility III-1 III-1-1 Power Connecting to Power Power down and disconnect the power cord before servicing or wiring a switch. Do not disconnect modules or cabling unless the power is first switched off.
III-1-2 Connecting to Network To connect the switch to the network: 1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of a computer 2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to Port 21-24 of the switch. The LED of the port lights if the device connected is active. 3. Connect an Ethernet cable to the IP Cameras Connect the switch to end nodes using a standard Cat5e Ethernet cable to connect the switch to end nodes as shown in the illustration below.
Launching the Configuration Utility To open the web-based configuration utility: 1. Open a Web browser. 2. Enter the IP address of the device you are configuring in the address bar on the browser (factory default IP address is 192.168.2.1) and then press Enter. 3. The default username is admin and the default password is 1234. 4. The first time that you log in with the default username and password, you are required to enter a new password.
IV IV-1 Surveillance VLAN Configuration Config Reload Button You can easily create Surveillance VLAN by pressing the “Config Button” on System Information page. Please follow the steps below to load default Surveillance VLAN configurations: 1. Click and Tab OK to continue. 2. Tab OK to continue.
NOTE: 1. The IP address won’t be changed after system restarted 2. The Surveillance VLAN 10 has been created 3. Enter your new password and confirm password 3. You can check out the differences after “Config Reload”.
IV-2 ONVIF Compliant Devices into Surveillance VLAN Please follow the steps below to add the ONVIF compliant devices into Surveillance VLAN 10. 1. Click the Add button. 2. Fill in the OUI on the Surveillance OUI table below. 3. Click the “Apply” button to complete the process. 1 2 3 Note: OUI (Organizationally Unique Identifier). The first three octets of MAC address are the OUI. OUI can be found in both Surveillance Mode and Standard Mode or printed on your IP cam/NVR.
IV-3 OUI in Surveillance Mode You can find the OUI in surveillance mode from IPC Discover section. 1. Switch to Surveillance Mode. 2. Click ONVIF (IPC Discover).
