Package Contents Before you start using this product, please check if there is anything missing in the package, and contact your dealer to claim the missing item(s): BR-6478AC Quick Installation Guide CD-ROM Ethernet Cable Power Adapter Installation 1. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the router’s WAN port to your modem’s LAN port.
2. Plug the included power adapter into the router’s 5V DC power port and the other end into an electrical socket. 3. Ensure that the “Wi-Fi On/Off” switch is set to On and that the power LED and WAN LED are lit. If not, the router is not properly connected. 4. Use a Wi-Fi device (e.g. computer, tablet, smartphone) to search for a Wi-Fi network with the SSID “edimax.setup” and connect to it. 5.
Note: If you cannot access http://edimax.setup , please make sure your computer is set to use a dynamic IP address. This is a simple procedure, and step by step instructions for how to do this can be found in the user manual. 6. Ensure that your router is properly connected to your modem as shown on the screen, and click “Next” to continue.
7. Please wait a moment while the BR-6478AC detects your WAN connection type. 8. The BR-6478AC will display the next screen depending on your WAN connection type.
For PPPoE users please enter the username and password provided by your ISP and click “Next” to continue: For other users please select your WAN connection type manually from the drop down menu, click “Next” to continue and follow the on-screen instructions. Refer to the user manual for more guidance: Note: If you are not sure which WAN connection type to choose, please contact your ISP.
9. Please enter a network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi Password for each of the BR-6478AC’s 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks and click “Next” to continue. Note: Please remember these details. For your convenience, you can write them down at the end of this QIG in “Wi-Fi Settings”. 10. You will see the screen below, displaying a summary of your W-Fi settings and that configuration is now complete. Please click “Next” to continue.
11. You will see a final “Congratulations” screen and configuration is now complete. Please close your browser window. 12. Use an Ethernet cable to connect any LAN port on the router to the Ethernet port on a computer or other network device you wish to connect. For Wi-Fi connections, see the next step.
13. You can now use a Wi-Fi device to connect to the BR-6478AC’s wireless networks. Note: The following steps are an example of how to connect to a Wi-Fi network. For different devices and operating systems the process may vary slightly – please connect to a Wi-Fi network in the usual manner for your device or operating system. After entering your password, you will be successfully connected to the BR-6478AC’s Wi-Fi network. Mac & Mobile Devices Click on the SSID of your network. Alternatively, if your wireless device supports WPS, you can use the WPS button (see below). WPS Setup If your wireless device supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) then you can use this method to connect to the BR-6478AC’s Wi-Fi networks. 1. Press the WPS button on the router to activate WPS for both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz. 2. Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the wireless device/client to activate its WPS. 3.
