2 Installation Procedure

Before you proceed with the installation, please read the following chapter!

Note1: For Windows 98SE please make sure your copy of windows is fully updated with the

latest hotfixes by going to

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Note2: For Windows XP or Windows XP SP1, please update your windows with the following

hotfix

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B822603&x=10&y=13

if your copy of Windows XP has been updated with Service Pack 2 (SP2), you do not

need to apply this hotfix.

Note3: The following installation was operated in Windows XP. (Procedures are similar for

Windows 98SE/ME/2000)

Note4: If you have installed the Wireless PC Card driver & utility before, please uninstall the

old version first.

wireless net work adapt er driver.

I nst allat ion

Important Note: (For Windows 2K/XP) Please ensure that the USB

adapter is plugged into the computer before starting the installation

program!!! (For Windows 98SE, do not plug in the device before starting

the installation program)!!!

To in st all t he ACU a nd USB de vice dr iver:

1. For Window s 2k/ XP insert t he USB device int o t he com put er, ( for windows

98SE do not insert t he device) , and insert t he inst allat ion CD.

2. Open t he I nst allShield Wizard ( set u p2 k .e x e for W in dow s XP/ 2 0 0 0 a nd

set u p9 8 .exe for W indow s9 8 SE/ ME) .

3. The Atheros Client I nst allat ion inst aller opens. Click Next.
