Wireless LAN Access Point Configuration
21
Channel 1-13 (Europe)
There are 14 channels available.
You should assign Channel Number in “AP mode”, “Station-Ad Hoc
mode”, “AP Bridge-Point to Point mode”, “AP Bridge-Point to Multi-Point
mode” and “AP Bridge-WDS mode”, “Universal Repeater mode”.
MAC Address
If you want to bridge more than one wired Ethernet networks together
with wireless LAN, you have to set this access point to “AP Bridge-Point
to Point mode”, “AP Bridge-Point to Multi-Point mode” or “AP Bridge-
WDS mode”. You have to enter the MAC addresses of other access
points that join the bridging work.
WLAN BSSID
A BSSID is the MAC address of an access point (AP) in an infrastructure
mode BSS. If WLAN BSSID is left at the factory default (000000000000),
the station (client) will connect to any Access Point (AP) with the
specified ESSID. If there is more than one AP with the same ESSID, a
station (client) will connect to the AP with the strongest signal. If you want
to force a station to connect to a specific AP, then set the WLAN BSSID
to the MAC address of the desired AP.
WLAN MAC
In “Station-Ad Hoc mode”, “Station-Infrastructure mode” and “Universal
Repeater mode”, this device needs a WLAN MAC address to act as a
station to connect to another peer or Access Point (AP). If WLAN MAC =
000000000000 (factory default), then the device uses the factory
assigned MAC address. If you set the WLAN MAC to any other number,
the device will use the MAC address you have specified. You also can
click “Clone MAC” button to let this device copy the MAC address of the
PC you are using to configure this device. If the device is in one of the 3
modes above, and if the wired interface is connected to an Ethernet
interface on a router, then it is important to set the WLAN MAC to be
identical to the MAC address of the router interface.
Auto MAC Clone
You can click on this option to let this device copy the MAC address of
the PC you are using to configure this device automatically. When
clicking on this option, the “Clone MAC” button will be grayed.
Root AP SSID
In “Universal Repeater mode”, this device can act as a station to connect
to a Root AP. You should assign the SSID of the Root AP here.
Set Security
In “AP Bridge-Point to Point mode”, ““AP Bridge-Point to Multi-Point
mode” and “AP Bridge-WDS mode”, you can click “Set Security” to add
encryption for the communication between the bridged access points.
