Timer Function and Ice Thickness Adjustment
The Ice Making Timer
1
displays a countdown when the ice maker has detected the right
conditions required to nish forming the current batch of ice cubes. This display will remain blank until
the proper conditions are met and the unit begins its countdown. At this point, the display shows the
number of minutes remaining for the ice to harvest into the storage basket.
If necessary, the timer can be adjusted using the + and - minus buttons below of on/o button to
increase or decrease the ice cube thickness. Increasing the ice making time will produce thicker ice.
Decreasing the ice making time will produce thinner ice. The current setting is displayed in the
adjustment window .
With the unit turned on:
1). Press the + button on the control panel to add from 1 to 6 minutes to the ice production time. This
will produce thicker ice. The setting will be displayed it the adjustment window.
2). Press the - button on the control panel to subtract 1 to 6 minutes from the ice production time. This
will produce thinner ice. The setting will be displayed it the adjustment window.
The current minutes added or subtracted are displayed in the adjustment window

. 0 indicates
the default ice making time is selected. 1 to 6 indicates the minutes that have been added to the ice
making timer to produce thicker ice. -1 to -6 indicates the minutes that have been subtracted from the
ice making timer to produce thinner ice. Use this adjustment to produce the desired ice thickness.
How the Ice Maker Produces Ice
After the unit is powered on, the ice making process begins as the compressor and the water pump
engage. The compressor gases freeze the evaporator grid as the water pump pushes water over
it. After about 15-20 minutes, individual ice cubes will have formed completely. At this time the ice
maker stops producing and begins its harvest cycle. A valve opens, diverting hot refrigerant gas into
the evaporator. The gas heats the evaporator, causing the ice cubes to slide o the evaporator and
into the ice basket.
The ice making cycle will then start again. The ice maker will produce clear ice until the cubes reach
the “ice full” sensor or until the unit is out of water. At this time the “ice full” light or “out of water”
light will illuminate. The ice bin compartment is insulated but not refrigerated, so ice in the bin will
slowly melt and the water will be reused. Once enough of the ice has melted, the ice maker will
automatically start making more ice.
Error Resolution
The Error icon indicates the unit has detected an ice production fault. This is most likely due to debris
or build-up in the unit, water lines, or pump.
1) Unplug and clean the ice maker thorougly (see Cleaning and Maintenence).
2) Uplug the unit from power for 1 hour. After 1 hour, plug the unit back in and turn on power. Make
sure the water reservoir is full and the unit begins making ice. If the error persists, contact EdgeStar
support.
