For Gasoline Models:
• ConsulttheEngine Manufacturer’s Owner’s Manual and follow the directions
for starting the engine and allow the engine to warm up.
Before Starting the Machine:
• PerformavisualinspectionoftheentiremachineandalldailymaintenanceaccordingtotheMaintenance
Schedule on page 15.
• Locateandbefamiliarwithallengine/motorandoperatingcontrols.
• ForGasolinemodels,obtaintheEngine Manufacturer’s Owner’s Manual. Read it and understand it before con-
tinuing. Follow the engine manual for break-in instructions.
• Usethecorrectcuttersforthejob.Besurecutterdrumisbalanced,thenumber,sizeandtypeofcutterwheels
are correct and the cutter drum shaft is locked and secured.
• Besureallfastenersaretightandsecure,checkforsignsofmetalcrackingorfatigue,inspectfordamageto
electrical wiring, damage to fuel lines, check bearings, etc.
• Besureallguardsareinplace.Donotoperateunlesscutterdrumguardisinplaceandsecure.
• Inspectworkareatodeterminethepresenceandlocationofdeckinserts,pipes,columnsandobjectsprotruding
from the slab surface so that they may be avoided during operation.
Starting the Engine/Motor:
For Electric Models:
•Besurethe“ON/OFF”rotarycamswitchisin“OFF”position.
•Hookupthecorrectvoltage/phaseelectricalpowersourcebypluggingintotheconnectorprovided.
Ifthecorddoesnotmatewiththeconnector,consultaqualiedlicensedelectricianbeforecontinu-
ing.
•Verifythattheelectricalcurrentbeingsuppliedisthepropervoltageandphaserequiredtorunthe
equipment.
• Checkmotorrotation.CutterdrumrotationonthemodelCPMmachinesis“downcut.”DONOTuseifdrum
rotationisincorrect-haveaqualiedelectricianmakethenecessarychangeinthemaincontrolpanelormotor
connection box.
