Java
Sonim XP3.20 has a collection of Java applications that
are saved in the phone as default. You can also download
more Java applications via WAP, Bluetooth, SD Card or
Java Application Manager.
Installing Pre-bundled Java Applications
The phone has some of the following Java applications
pre-bundled depending on your distribution. They can
be installed by selecting Menu > Applications > Java >
More Apps. You can nd more applications in the Java
Application Manager described below.
• amAze GPS: Makes the phone into a full featured
GPS device with voice based turn-by-turn navigation.
• Sonim Mail: Provides email receiving and sending
from the phone.
• Java Application Manager (JAM): This has an
assorted list of applications that have been tested by
Sonim on the phone. This picks up the latest list from
a server over GPRS/EDGE.
• Trimble Outdoors: The popular complete personal
assistant for trekking activities, now free with the
phone.
• Trimble AllSports: Personal tness assistant with
calorie monitor, racing coach, and so on, now free
with the phone.
In order to install the Java applications, the date
and time must be set correctly on the phone.
Java Help
Select Menu > Applications > Java Help.
You will obtain information on how to install Java pre-
bundled applications and how to set the APN.
Java applications can also be installed from
the SD card.
Installing Java Application from SD Card
Select Menu > My les > Memory card tab. Select the
le (.jar or .jad). The installation process begins. Once the
application is installed successfully, it will be displayed in
the Java box.
Installing Java Application from WAP
Congure WAP as described in “WAP Browser” on page
49
. Launch WAP. Browse to the location where the le (.jar
or .jad) is present. Select the le. The installation process
begins. Once the application is installed successfully, it
will be displayed in the Java box.
Some Java applications running in the
foreground can be pushed to the background
by pressing the
key.
