Section 5: Fire-Fighting Measures
Extinguishing media Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide. Foam. Dry chemical.
Water spray.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture Fire hazard: No particular fire or
explosion hazard.
Combustion generates: Carbon oxides (CO, CO2).
Explosion hazard: Product is not explosive.
Reactivity: Normally stable, even under fire exposure conditions, and not reactive with
water.
Advice for firefighters
Firefighting instructions: Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Exercise
caution when fighting any fire.
Protection during firefighting: Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment,
including respiratory protection. Wear fire/flame resistant/retardant clothing. Wear a self-
contained breathing apparatus.
Other information: Breaking up the burning fire starter with a poker, etc. will cause a
sudden flare-up and intensify the fire. Burning pieces of the fire starter may stick to the
poker.

For non-emergency personnel
Emergency procedures: No additional risk management measures required.
For emergency responders Emergency procedures: Collect as much as possible in a clean
container for (preferable) reuse or disposal. No additional risk management measures
required.
Environmental precautions Do not discharge into drains or the environment.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For containment: Recover the product by vacuuming, shoveling or sweeping.
