Installation 1. INSTALLATION Section 3 TO SETUP YOUR RECEIVER FOR THE FIRST TIME This procedure supersedes the procedure as given in the user manual from step 15 onwards. The main differences are: ■ Select Easy or Advanced installation, Easy installation helps you to do the initial setup procedure where Advanced allows you to program the receiver as required for non-standard installations.

FAMILIARIZATION Section 4 ECHONAV 2.2 The software of the receiver contains the EchoNAV user interface with on-screen help, which gives you easy control over the features of the receiver. The software contains also a large database of pre-programmed satellites and transponders which are used for a quick installation. For initial installation, the software guides you through the required setup menu to allow for an easy and reliable installation setup of the receiver.

Familiarization 2. Section 4 THE ECHONAV INSTALLATION MENU A highlighted button shows you which (main/sub) menu is selected. The MENU key lets you change between the main and sub-menu where the keys let you make a selection in the selected (main/sub) menu. The OK key brings you into the related page, where you can make a choice from the available options.

For the correct operation of the EPG and the timers, it is necessary to set the local time correctly. You can customize: ■ Year To set the actual year. ■ Month To set the actual month. ■ Date To set the actual date. ■ Day To set the actual day. ■ Hour To set the actual time in hours. ■ Minute To set the actual time in minutes. ■ Save settings To confirm the settings you made. 2.2.

FIXED DISH SETUP - SUB-MENU This sub-menu allows you to customize the system setup to add an additional fixed dish into your motorized or DiSEqC1.2 configuration. Note that the menu page is dynamic which means that it changes with the selections you make. You can customize: ■ LNBs To set the amount of LNBs you have installed. ■ Polarity (DVR-7000 series only) To set the device that controls the signal polarity.

Transponder TP00 brings you to the add data menu. ■ Skew (for polarotor only) To adjust the Horizontal/Vertical setting. ■ Position To move the dish for best signal level and quality. ■ ■ Re-align dish To compensate for a dish offset caused by ambient conditions.

ABOUT ECHOSTAR - INFORMATION PAGE The About EchoStar information page gives all the where-to-contact-Information about EchoStar and the status information about the receiver. You can view: ■ Company This field shows the full name of EchoStar. ■ Address This field shows the address of EchoStar. ■ EchoNAV This field shows the current software version loaded into the receiver. ■ Boot version This field shows the current boot version loaded into the receiver.

GROUP AND SORT Once in a list, the selection for Group (yellow key) and Sort (blue key) are kept until you change the selection. The selection is made visible in the InfoBanner with icons NOTE Sometimes a list seems to be empty because of the settings of the Group and Sort option. If this happens, select Group - None and Sort - None. 3.2.

You can call up the pop-up menu with the satellite key on the remote control unit. 4. THE INDEX MARKERS 4.1. Section 4 5. Familiarization THE TIMERS 5.1. DVR STOP TIMER This pop-up menu gives you the possibility to choose directly a stop time for the recording. You can call up the pop-up menu with the record key (press twice) on the remote control unit after a recording is started. ■ Set stop time If available from the EPG, the program end time is shown; ■ Duration You can define a period for which the timer continues to record.

Use the OK key to pull down the menu selection fields. 2. Use the keys to scroll the selectable items. 3. Use the keys to navigate between the left and right column of selectable items. 4. Use the EXIT key to leave the menu and return to the view mode. 5.

When the keyboard appears: a. use the arrow keys to navigate; b. press OK to accept the character; c. select the button to get lower case characters and numbers; d. select the button e. on the RCU, press the OK key to confirm. USE THE FAVORITE LISTS Navigation and use of the favorite lists are the same as for the all channels and current satellite list as described before.

If the i-button in the InfoBanner is shown, press the i-key two times to get the detailed channel information. 3. If the i-button is not shown, press the i-key one time to get the detailed channel information. 4. On the RCU, press the i-key to remove the information from the screen. 3. You can select a photo from a list and ‘play’ the photo to view it. Troubleshooting 1. TO SOLVE AN INSTALLATION RELATED PROBLEM Problem Possible cause What to do? 1. Section 8 2. Glossary EXPLANATION OF USED TERMINOLOGY Add data Advanced mode Easy mode Edit data This menu gives the possibility to add a user defined satellites and transponders. This is an installation mode where the user has full flexibility to setup an installation with multiple (user defined) LNBs. This is the recommended installation mode. This mode offers a guided initial setup in which the user is assisted by the sequence of the menus and editable pre-settings.
