DPPF-2100 SAFETY Keep a Solid Stance • Maintain footing and balance at all times. Do not stand on slippery, uneven or unstable surfaces. Do not work in odd positions or on ladders. Do not over reach. • Operate the Power Pruner® only from the ground or out of an approved bucket lift. • Always evaluate the branches to be pruned for hazards such as loose dead branches which may fall and strike the operator or helpers. Remove hazards before pruning. • Plan retreat path from falling objects.
SAFETY DPPF-2100 Avoid contact of the guide bar tip with any object while the saw chain is moving. Cut only wood. Avoid striking concrete, metal, wire, or other obstructions which could cause kickback or damage to the saw chain. If the saw chain does strike a foreign object, immediately stop the engine, inspect and repair the Power Pruner if necessary.
DPPF-2100 SAFETY Electrical Safety • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock. • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
SAFETY DPPF-2100 • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts. • If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
DPPF-2100 SAFETY • Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. • Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
SAFETY DPPF-2100 • Exercise care in handling batteries to avoid shorting the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets, keys, etc. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause burns if contact with said materials is made. • Do not use a battery or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury. • Do not expose a battery or tool to fire or excessive temperature.
DPPF-2100 SAFETY Discard all toxic materials in a specified manner to prevent contamination of the environment. Before discarding a damaged or worn out Lithium-ion battery, contact your local waste disposal agency, or the local Environmental Protection Agency for information and specific instructions. Take the batteries to a local recycling and/or disposal center, certified for Lithium-ion disposal. If the battery cracks or breaks, with or without leaks, do not recharge it and do not use.
SAFETY DPPF-2100 Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate equipment. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.
DPPF-2100 SAFETY • Use only one ECHO extension on the pruner. • Do not hit rocks, stones, tree stumps, and other foreign objects with the saw chain. • Do not cut into the ground with the saw chain. • If cutting attachment end strikes an obstruction, stop unit immediately and inspect saw chain for damage. • Do not operate with a dull, fractured, or discolored saw chain. • Remove all foreign objects from work area. Moving parts can amputate fingers or cause severe injuries.
