4 Operation
This section provides operating instructions for conducting surveys, generating reports, and
recharging the batteries. Before starting survey, the needs to determine the area to be
surveyed and how that area will be covered. The typical survey covers one or more traffic lanes
over a walkable distance of typically 1000 feet (300 meters) or less. This distance will be
scanned in one or more parallel lines. The pavement surface must be clean and dry. Also,
users will need to determine where cores will be taken for calibration. Typically these cores are
taken at the beginning of a survey or job. A specific calibration is needed for each mix or batch
that comes from the plant.
