2.3.5 Grounding of the DC input
Grounding, i. e. connect to earth potential, one of the DC input poles is permitted. A suitable PE access point can
only be found outside of the ELR 5000 rack. The rack itself is grounded via the mains cord.
2.3.6 Connection to DC sources
The DC load input is on the front side of the module and is not protected by a fuse. The cross section of the connec-
tion cable is determined by the nominal current of the particular model, the cable length and ambient temperature.
For cables up to 1.5 m and average ambient temperature up to 50 °C, we recommend:
up to 10 A: 1 mm²
up to 25 A: 2.5 mm²
per connection pole (multi-conductor, insulated). Single cables with for example 2.5 mm² may be replaced by 2x
1 mm² etc. If the cables are longer, then the cross section must be increased to avoid voltage loss and overheating.
2.3.6.1 Cable lead and plastic cover
It is intended to connect the DC input cables (also for Sense) from the bottom side of the DC terminal:
