Landing Gear Installation/Montage des Fahrwerk/ Installation du train d’atterrissage/Installazione del carrello di atterraggio 1 2 #4 x 3/8-inch Insert one of the landing gear legs into the fuselage. x1 Prepare screw holes inside the fuselage by threading a #4 x 3/8-inch self-tapping screw into the marked holes inside the fuselage. Remove the screw and place a very small amount of thin CA into each hole. Use a magnetized #2 Phillips screwdriver to hold the screw during installation.
3 4 x2 5 LL RR Slide brass bushing blocks onto the axle, orienting the square portion towards the outside. Do not install the setscrews at this time.
6 7 #4 x 3/8-inch x4 8 M3 x 3 x2 Slide the remaining landing gear leg over the spreader bar, and then insert it into the fuselage. Secure the landing gear leg in the fuselage using two landing gear straps and four #4 x 3/8-inch self-tapping screws. Tighten the screws with a #2 Phillips screwdriver. Center the spreader bar in the landing gear legs. Use an M3 x 3 setscrew in each of the bearing blocks to secure them to the axle. Tighten the setscrews on the flat area of the axle using a 1.
8 9 10 Install the rubber bands, two per side. Begin by hooking the rubber band on the front peg. Holding the entire loop, tension the rubber band by stretching. Lay the entire loop over the top of the inside of the bearing block and wrap around the front peg, going over the top first and wrapping around the bottom of the peg. Bring the entire loop back over the top and wrap around the front.
11 x2 12 8-32 #8 x2 x2 Slide a #8 flat washer onto the axle, then an 8-32 lock nut. Tighten the lock nut so that it is flush with the end of the axle.
Motor Installation/Einbau des Motors/Installation du Moteur/Installazione del motore 1 2A (Power 25) #4 4-40 x 1/2-inch x4 Attach mount to motor using hardware provided with motor.
3 4 Mount the speed control to the plywood plate using hook and loop tape. Secure the switch to the plate. If you plan to add a hook and loop strap to secure your speed control, install it at this stage during construction before mounting the plate into the fuselage. Connect motor wires to ESC. Route the wires through the hole in the former. If using all E-flite® components, match the wire colors between the ESC and motor to ensure correct motor direction.
Rudder and Elevator Servo and Pushrod Installation/Einbau von Höhenruder und Seitenruderservo u. Anlenkung/ Installation des servos de dérive et profondeur et des tringleries/ Installazione del servo del timone, dell’elevatore e dell’asta di spinta 1 2 3 4-40 x 1/8 Install the rudder and elevator servos with output shafts facing the rear of fuselage. Prepare screw holes for the servos by threading a servo mounting screw into the holes in the servo mounts.
4 5 Plug the rudder, elevator and speed control leads into the correct ports of the receiver. The elevator servo is the one closest to the front of the airplane. Mount the receiver in the fuselage using hook and loop tape. Connect and install the remote receiver. There is an option to setup the elevator linkage using a pull-pull method for more scale accuracy.
6 7 8 Remove the servo horn from the elevator servo. Use side cutters to remove all but the arm marked in the previous step. Use a pin vise and 5/64-inch (2mm) drill bit to enlarge the hole in servo arm that is 10mm from center to accept 90° bend for the elevator servo horn. This step is only necessary when installing the pushrod to operate the elevator. Remove the servo horn from the rudder servo. Use side cutters to remove all but the arm marked in the previous step.
9 Slide the pushrods into the guide tubes. The 29-inch rudder pushrod is inserted in the lower tube of the three on the right side of the fuselage. The 347/8-inch pushrod is inserted in the lower tube on the left side of the fuselage. Note: All references to direction are taken from the pilot’s perspective as they are sitting in the cockpit. Schieben Sie die Gestänge in die Führungsröhrchen.
12 13 2-56 Nylon 2-56 Nylon x1 Slide a piece of silicon tubing over base of nylon clevises; do not slide over forks yet. With the rudder servo centered, thread nylon clevis onto the pushrod. Position the clevis so when it is connected to the rudder horn it will snap into position without deflecting the rudder or rudder servo. Slide the silicone tube over the forks of the clevis to secure it to the horn.
Optional Pull-Pull Elevator Linkage/Optionale Zuganlenkung des Höhenruders/ Commande optionnelle de la profondeur par câbles aller-retour/Collegamento opzionale elevatore pull-pull 1 2 x4 Use low-tack tape to hold the elevator in the neutral position.
3 4 5 Thread a cable coupler slightly less than halfway into the clevis. This is to allow for adjustments to take up any excess slack in the cables that will occur over time. Place the elevator servo arm on the servo output shaft perpendicular to servo case. Position the arm as close as possible without the need to use the sub-trim feature of the radio. Mark the arms on the horn that will remain as the other arms will be removed in the following steps.
6 7 8 Slide a piece of silicon tubing over the end of the clevis. Attach clevis to the holes of servo arm that are 10mm from the center of the servo horn. Slide tubing over forks to secure the clevises to the horn. Slide a sleeve over the end of the lower left cable inside the fuselage. Pass the cable through the cable coupler, then back through the sleeve. Loop the cable through the sleeve a second time. Position the cable so there isn’t any excess cable beyond the sleeve.
9 10 11 Tighten the loop from the previous step so it lays flat against the sleeve. Use a crimping tool to secure the sleeve to the cable. Trim the excess cable past the outside of the sleeve. Repeat the previous three steps to secure the upper right cable to the remaining cable coupler. Install the elevator servo arm perpendicular to servo case. Position the arm as close as possible without the need to use the sub-trim feature of the radio.
12 13 14 Apply tension on the top right cable at the rear of the fuselage, checking to make sure it is not tangled in another cable. Slide a sleeve over the end of the upper right cable. Pass the cable through the control horn, then back through the sleeve.
15 16 17 Use a crimping tool to secure the sleeve to the cable. Use side cutters to trim the excess cable. Repeat the previous three steps to secure the lower left cable to the control horn on the bottom of the elevator.
18 Secure the cable using the procedure described for the previous sleeves, again making sure the cables are not wrapped around anything or another cable and run straight. These cables will have a slight amount of slack in comparison to the main cables that operate the elevator.
19 Back inside the airplane, slide a sleeve onto the lower right cable and thread the end through the left cable coupler, crossing the cable inside the fuselage. Secure the cable using the procedure as described for the previous sleeves. The cable makes a 180° bend around the servo arm and passes back through the sleeve. The second loop is not necessary for this step as this allows for adjusting the tension later. Repeat the process for the upper left cable, this time going to the right threaded coupler.
Battery Tray Mounting/Montage des Akkuhalters/ Montage du support de batterie/Montaggio cassetto della batteria 1 2 Route the ESC lead to the receiver using the narrower slot in the battery tray mount and plug it into the appropriate port of the receiver.
3 4 Connect a 3-inch extension to the BIND/DATA port of the receiver. Secure all the wiring so it doesn’t move around inside the fuselage. Place the hook and loop straps tightly around the battery tray at the indentions.

Center of Gravity Der Schwerpunkt Centre de gravité An important part of preparing the aircraft for flight is properly balancing the model. 1. Attach the wing panels to the fuselage. Make sure to connect the leads from the aileron to the appropriate leads from the receiver.
Control Throws 1. Turn on the transmitter and receiver of your model. Check the movement of the rudder using the transmitter. When the stick is moved to the right, the rudder should also move right. Reverse the direction of the servo at the transmitter if necessary. 2. Check the movement of the elevator with the radio system. Moving the elevator stick toward the bottom of the transmitter will make the airplane elevator move up. 3. Check the movement of the ailerons with the radio system.
