DVD Player 3 9 Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

About the symbol The symbol may appear on your TV display during operation and indicates that the function is not permitted by your player or specific media. Notes: • Do not use irregularly shaped CDs (for example, heart-shaped or octagonal). Doing so may result in malfunctions.

DX-DVD2 10 Installing remote control batteries To install the remote control battery: 1 Open the battery tray. 2 If this is the first time you will be using the remote control, remove the plastic insulation sheet that covers the battery. -ORIf you are replacing the battery, remove the old battery and insert a new lithium coin cell battery (CR2025) into the battery tray. Make sure that you match the + symbol on the battery with the + symbol on the battery tray. 3 Replace the battery tray.

DX-DVD2 14 Turning your player on and off To turn your player on and off: 1 Plug the power cord into an AC power outlet. 2 Press the STANDBY/ button to turn on your player. 3 Press the STANDBY/ button again to turn off your player. Playing a disc To play a disc: 1 2 3 4 Turn on your player and your TV. Press OPEN/CLOSE ( ) to open the disc tray. Load the disc into the tray, with the label side up. Press OPEN/CLOSE ( ) to close the tray. Playback starts automatically.
DVD Player 15 Playback options Remote control functions The following functions are applicable only to DVD discs. If other disc formats are played, screen display and operation will be different. • SETUP—Press this button to display the on-screen setup menu . • DVD MENU—Press this button to display the root menu, then select an item according to your preference. (This key is only valid on DVDs with multi-layer menus.) • TOP MENU—Press this button to display the title menu (available on some DVDs).

For progressive scan, set to ON, for interlaced, set to OFF. • OSD (on screen display) Language—You can select the language for the setup menus and on-screen display. • Screen Saver—You can choose to have an animated picture on the screen whenever the DVD player is idle for a certain time. • Playback Memory—You can choose to view a disc from the point where it was stopped.

This surround sound format is output to a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder through the coaxial and optical jacks on the back of the player.

DVD Player 21 Maintaining Care and handling of discs Handling discs Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold the disc by the edges so that fingerprints do not get on the surface. Never stick paper or tape on the disc. Storing discs After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight. Cleaning discs Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion.
DX-DVD2 22 Resetting your player Reset your player if you observe any of the following symptoms: • When your player is plugged in, but the power will not turn on or off. • When the display window is not working. • When your player does not operate normally. To reset your player: • Unplug the power cord for 30 minutes, then plug in the power cord again. This should reset your player.

This Product must be purchased from an authorized dealer of Dynex brand products and packaged with this warranty statement. This warranty does not cover refurbished Product.
