Operating area
The main operating areas are: Machine, Parameters, Programming, Services,
Diagnosis.
Operator interface
The operator interface is the means of providing a display in a CNC control
and is provided in the form of a screen. It has 7 horizontal and 7 vertical
softkeys.
Operator panel
The operator panel comprises a video display unit and an NC keypad. On the
slimline operator panel (TFT screen) the NC keypad is integrated in the
operator panel unit, as opposed to the CRT version. The operator panel is
linked to the operator panel interface with the first serial interface of the MMC
in the control.
Overall reset
(general reset)
The purpose of an overall reset is to clear specific areas of NCK and PLC
memory before starting up (again).
Overall reset mode
A special mode for installation and start-up of the control. In the overall reset
mode no axes can be traversed or part programs executed.
Parameter
Operating area of the control
Value for setting or for controlling specific characteristics or functions of
physical modules and software programs.
Part program
A series of instructions to the NC control for producing a specific workpiece
part.
PART program
manager
The part program manager on the MMC of the control is workpiece
oriented. Each workpiece is assigned a directory in which the data
required to produce a workpiece (e.g. part programs, tool offsets, R
parameters etc.) are stored.
On the NCK side, the part program manager is linear. Within the part
program memory (DRAM) the various part programs are linear, i.e. they
are stored without any kind of hierarchy cross-references.
Path
Specifies the position of a file in the directory hierarchy on a hard disk.

Programming unit
PLC
Programmable Logic Controller: Component of the NC control; interface
control for handling the control logic in machine tools.
PLC
Electronic controllers whose function is stored as a program in the control unit.
The design and wiring of the unit do not therefore depend on the function of
the controller. The programmable logic controller has the same structure as a
computer: it comprises CPU (central controller) with memory, input/output
modules and internal bus system. The I/O devices and the programming
language (STEP 5 -> user program) are designed to suit the needs of control
technology.
