Icons
Graphic symbols on the screen in the "Symbols" field that display statuses with
fixed meaning in all channels, e.g. switch on lubricants.
Inch system of
units
A system of units that defines distances in inches and fractions of inches.
Incremental
dimension
The distance traversed represented by number of increments x increments
length. The number of increments can be stored in the form of setting data or it
can be selected by means of special keys with the inscriptions 10, 100, 1000,
10 000.
Initialisation files
*.INI
Initialisation files are special ASCII files. They contain value assignments that
are read out before program execution as such. Initialisation files are used in
particular predefined data.
Input
Input key, enter key: Transfer (acceptance) of an edited value
Intermediate blocks
Traversing motions with selected tool offset (G41/G42) may be interrupted by
a limited number of intermediate blocks (blocks without axis motion in the
offset plane). The tool offset can still be allowed for correctly in the
calculation.
JOG
Mode of the control (set-up mode). In the JOG mode the machine can be set
up. Individual axes and spindles can be traversed in the JOG mode using the
direction keys. Other functions in the JOG mode are reference point of
approach and preset (set actual value).
Keyswitch
The keyswitch on the machine control panel has four positions that are
interpreted by the operating system of the control. Furthermore three keys with
different colours fit in the key switch and can be withdrawn in the specified
positions.
KV
Servo-gain factor: A term used in closed-loop control systems. This determines
the dynamic response (rise time) in the position control loop.
Languages
The display texts for operator guidance, the system messages and the
alarm/messages are available in 5 system languages:
English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
The above languages can be installed in the control and then selected by means
of the Diagnosis/Change Language softkeys.
Leadscrew error
compensation
Compensation of mechanical inaccuracies in a ball screw involved with a feed,
provided by the control on the basis of stored measured values for the
deviations.
Machine
Operating area of the control.
Machine axes
Axes that exist physically in the machine tool.
Machine coordinate
system (MCS)
Coordinate system referred to the axes of the machine tool.
Machine zero
Machine zero point, machine datum: Point that has been uniquely defined by
the machine tool, e.g. reference point.
