SupplyINg pOWER TO ThE ChaRgER
This charger can be powered by connecting it to a 12V DC power source, such as a 12V sealed battery
(HAN102) or an automobile battery.
CAUTION: If you choose to power your charger with an automobile battery, never do so with the
automobile running as fluctuation in power can cause product malfunction and possibly
injury.
CAUTION: Never connect the AC and DC input cords to an active power source at the same time. This
will void the warranty, cause product damage and possibly injure the user.
AC Power
To power the Vision Peak 2 AC Charger, connect the AC power cord into a standard 110V wall outlet.
NOTICE: Always consult 12V battery collateral materials or Horizon Hobby before using with sources
other than standard AC wall outlet.
DC Power
Attach the red (positive) alligator clip to the red (positive) terminal on your 12V DC power source. Next, at-
tach the black (negative) alligator clip to the black (negative) terminal.
WARNING: Always make sure that you follow proper polarities at all times or electrical shock will occur.
Charging 6/7-Cell Ni-Cd or Ni-MH Car Packs
1. Connect the charger to an input power source as described previously.
2. Connect the battery to the charger.
3. Select the number of cells in the pack you are going to charge.
Note: If the number of cells that has been selected does not match up with the actual cells in the pack or
has a damaged cell, the charger will stop charging, and the LEDs will blink.
4. Select the charge rate by pushing the Start/Select button until the LED indicates the correct charge
rate. Once the LED is solid, the charger is charging.
5. Watch the LED continue to climb until all lights flash, indicating the battery is fully charged.
WARNING: If at any time during the charge process the battery pack(s) become hot (over 140 ºF),
unplug the battery immediately and discontinue the charge process.
Charging 4/5-Cell Ni-Cd or Ni-MH Receiver Packs
1. Connect the charger to an input power source as described previously.
2. Use the included Tamiya-style connector to receiver adapter to connect the battery to the charger.
3. Select the number of cells in the pack you are going to charge.
Note: If the number of cells selected does not match up with the actual cells in the pack or has a
damaged cell, the charger will stop charging, and the LEDs will blink.
4. Select the charge rate by pushing the Start/Select button until the LED indicates the correct charge
rate. Once the LED is solid, the charger is charging.
Note: When charging packs under 1000mAh, make certain you select the 1-amp charge rate. Receiver
packs that have a capacity of 1000mAh or higher can be charged at 2 amps.
5. Watch the LED continue to climb until all lights flash, indicating the battery is fully charged. Once all of
the LEDs are lit and flashing, the charger automatically transitions to trickle charge.
WARNING: If at any time during the charge process the battery pack(s) become hot (over 140 ºF),
unplug the battery immediately and discontinue the charge process.
TRICklE ChaRgE
Once the battery has peaked, the charger will automatically switch to trickle charge. This feature will make
sure the battery is fully charged when you are ready to use it. You will know the charger has entered trickle
when the charger repeatedly beeps, and the LED continuously flashes.
The battery pack will remain on trickle charge until you either re-peak the pack by pushing the Start/Select
button or disconnect the pack.
RE-pEakINg
To re-peak a battery, keep the battery attached to the charge lead and push the Start button. Do not unplug
and reattach the battery prior to re-peaking. This will cause the battery to over-heat.
CAUTION: Never re-peak a warm battery as the overcharging can damage the products and possibly
the user.
NOTICE: Check with the battery manufacturer to ensure peaking is possible. Failure to follow correct
peaking procedure could cause damage to both the charger and battery packs.
